The Pequenos NADAS collection was born from the desire to praise and communicate the work of NGOs in rebuilding human lives. These are stories of human reconstruction that edify those who listen and deserve to have a voice. We want to be that voice.

We are going to produce a book about the life stories and overcoming of homeless people supported by the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army was founded in 1865, when William Booth felt called by God to declare war on poverty, misery and sin in one of East London's most infamous neighborhoods.

Initially it was called the Christian Mission, but little by little it began to have a military nature and at the end of 1878 it became known as the "Salvation Army". Since then, the work has grown greatly and is now spread throughout the world. One of the Salvation Army's mottos is "Soup, Soap and Salvation."

Desiring to serve the Portuguese people, the Salvation Army officially began its work in Portugal on July 25, 1971. Since then it has developed continuously and is today located from north to south of the country: Porto, Castelo Branco, Sintra, Lisbon and São Brás de Alportel (Algarve).

Being an integral part of the evangelical community, the Salvation Army has a creed solidly based on the Bible, summarized in eleven Articles of Faith. Consequently, salvationist teaching is based on a clearly defined doctrinal basis.

The Salvation Army has always defended absolute equality between the sexes and the ordination of women. Ranks and promotions are awarded without distinction to officers regardless of their gender.

The Salvation Army is characterized by a very comprehensive ministry, which involves a spiritual component, like a church, and also a strong social part, which leads it to be one of the most recognized institutions in the world, operating as a Non-Governmental Organization.

About the author

In the "Pequenos NADAS" collection, we disseminate, through books, social entrepreneurship projects that cannot fail to create a feeling of pride in the Portuguese. It also serves as financial support to the Institutions since the revenue generated from the sale of books reverts 100% to the Organization in question.

Note: The books are mission neutral certified, which means that the carbon footprint associated with the use of paper, production and distribution is neutralized through projects that offset carbon emissions.

Budget and due dates

The book will be released at the end of December 2023.

The budget for the edition of 2000 copies is estimated at €10,000 and the amount requested here will be essential to co-finance the book. We count on the Institution's patrons to raise the remaining amount needed.
