CARA LAVADA prepares 3 years of projects dedicated to rethinking the legacy left by Natália Correia in the concept of freedom, to celebrate her centennial. Come help us celebrate sensuality, extravagance and revolution.
All in Natália Correia is an extension of the most unsubmissive Freedom. Born in 1923 on the island of São Miguel and having moved to Lisbon, where she lived until her death (1993), Natália was an intellectual, poet, playwright, novelist, essayist, deputy to the Assembly of the Republic and activist in favor of Culture, of Human Rights, and of Women. Even today, the blade of her verses exposes problems of our days as she uses literature as a means for intervention in society. With the goal of celebrating her 100th birthday, the collectives CARA LAVADA and O Colectivo join forces to celebrate the sensuality, extravaganc, esoterism, faith and revolution, all factors inherent to the universe and the works of Natália. Because one year would not suffice, the collectives decided to extend this project for 3 years, from 2021 to 2024. Departing from Natália's greatests devotions, this project counts with various modes of art, from literature, public art, visual arts, performances and video art. It gets young artists into contact with already establish artist with the intention of bringing Natália closer to people and prompting a reflection on her legacy. The project also aims to extend her legacy into the online world with certain activities specially designed for the website.
