Matilde suffers from domestic violence, feeling unable to get out of the relationship. The only people with the power to do anything live in the house next door.
Synopsis
Lost in her emotions and unable to let go of the reins of submission, she finds herself unable to get out of the relationship. In her heart there is still a hint of hope that everything will change. So close, yet so far, in the apartment next door live José and Maria, an elderly couple with the power to turn the situation around.
Matilde lives a toxic and suffocating relationship with Peter, having no control over their decisions not enough strength to get free from the network of submission and passion, feeling unable to leave the relationship. Basically, Matilde, as many victims mistakenly think that the violence they suffer falls under their responsibility and blame theirselves in a certain way. This line of thinking only serves to give context and structure to the character, and something that helped us tell the story, but it's not something that will be presented explicitly, since we do not want to focus on the victim's perspective . The purpose of this movie is not to show the victim's perspective. Not that we don't find it important, but mostly because the idea is to make those who witness these attitudes, to see that they are accomplices of these aggressions, making the decision to act and to be a strong voice for the outcome of it.

Budget and due dates
The short film “MATA-ME” addresses the issue of domestic violence, unfortunately in addition to being still real in society, it suffered an increase in denunciations during the time of confinement, which makes us think even more about the victims who did not have or have a chance to report the aggressor. The project, despite being academic and with a little help given by the institution, has specificities that need more attention and end up becoming a little more expensive. The money raised will be used to help cover the expenses of shooting space, art direction and hygiene products, which are very important nowadays. We need your help for this short film to have the success and the projection we envision! It's okay if you can't help us monetarily, you can always share our cause on social media, we will always appreciate your help!
