Las Palmas needs funding to be able to afford a new space and to produce the next exhibition program (2019/2020). We therefore ask all friends and followers to support this project!

Las Palmas needs funding to be able to afford a new space and to produce the next exhibition program (2019/2020) scheduled to start in September 2019. Due to the current real estate prices in Lisbon (that makes it very difficult to find an affordable space) and the lack of government support in the field of visual arts in Portugal, this crowdfunding is for us a matter of survival. We are aware of the importance of the project for the Lisbon artistic community, and we want to thank all the artists who have accepted our invitation and the loyal public that have supported us since 2017. We know that part of our mission is to give visibility to young artists at the beginning of their careers. We want Las Palmas to remain a place of freedom and risk, and we need everyone's help to continue this totally independent and self-funded initiative. Now that we are being forced to look for a new space, we need your help more than ever. We therefore ask all friends and followers to support this project which is yours too!

About the author

Las Palmas is an artist-run space founded in 2017 by four young artists - Aires de Gameiro, Hugo Gomes, Nuno Ferreira and Pedro Cabrita Paiva. Understood as a space for artistic experimentation, it seeks to reflect and act on contemporary practices in the field of visual arts, presenting a unique exhibition program in the portuguese artistic context. Since 2017, Las Palmas has produced seventeen solo and collective exhibitions of national and foreign artists, was invited to participate in an international art fair (SWAB Barcelona 2018) and in several public conferences and presentations, regularly collaborating with relevant cultural institutions and initiatives in the Portuguese art scene.

Budget and due dates

The funds raised in this crowdfunding will be used to pay off the rent of the new space and to help produce our third exhibition cycle that will start in September 2019 and end in July 2020.
