On 8 March, women all over the world stand up for their rights and mobilize against violence, inequality and prejudice. Because the violence we suffer is multiple, so is the strike we call.
The national network platform 8 de Março calls for the construction of the Feminist Strike 8 March 2019 in Portugal. Amarante, Coimbra, Lisbon, Braga, Covilhã, Vila Real and Porto have already joined this platform. At the national level, more than twenty collectives, associations, political organizations and trade unions are involved in its organization. The Feminist Strike for March 8, 2019 is based on four pillars: labor; care and household chores; student and consumption.
All over the planet, we are the most trafficked and the most sacrificed by poverty. We are from the country where there are 6576 women and girls victims of genital mutilation.
We are the survivors of gender violence, which in Portugal kills, on average, two of us each month, we are 80% of the victims of domestic violence and 90.7% of those of sexual crimes.
We are the victims of macho justice, when it bases its decisions on prejudices, and the culture of rape, which discredits our word and devalues our experience, trying to attribute responsibility for the violence we suffer.
We are the ones who live on permanent alert, because harassment in the public space and in the workplace continues to be present.
We are multiple and diverse, of all colors and places, of all shapes and forms, with different sexual orientations and gender identities, professions and occupations.
The Feminist Strike is an international initiative that brings together thousands of women on March 8th. It was with great enthusiasm that we witnessed the Feminist Strike in Spain in 2018. Spain stopped and made history: the largest feminist strike ever. Trade unions joined the feminist movement in a standstill that affected several sectors. Five million people occupied streets and squares on March 8, 2018.

About the author
The 8 de Março Network is a national platform that brings together individuals and individuals mobilized in the construction of the Feminist Strike of March 8, 2019 in Portugal. Amarante, Braga, Coimbra, Cova da Beira, Lisbon, Porto, Vila Real, Viseu and Aveiro already integrate this collaborative network.
We are employees, students, retired women, unemployed and poor, from the coast and the interior, from the mainland and from the islands. We are the invisible, the black and the gypsy. We are you and I, we are us , we are so many and so diverse.
Meet us through Instagram and Facebook Social Networks. You know what we do through the various meetings that exist weekly, in the cities mentioned.
We are creating a strike by all and for all of us - women.
On March 8th we will strike wage labor, domestic work and care, consumption of goods and services and student strike.
LIVING, FREE AND UNITED! IF WOMEN STOP, THE WORLD STOPS!
Encontro Nacional 8Dez2018
Budget and due dates
The funds raised will be applied to the preparation, dissemination and implementation in the Greve, on March 8, 2019. In these weeks that separate us from this date, we are promoting several events to make known Greve and its objectives (weekly preparation of Greve is happening in the cities of the nuclei of Network 8 M) and we are also organizing a National Meeting, on February 9 in Coimbra, of all the activists involved in the construction of the Strike to unite effort and align strategies. From leaflets to dissemination through various means, through logistics, everything involves money and it is essentially in these areas that we will apply the funds raised through this crowdfunding.
The creation of crowdfunding mainly serves to create paper documentation to publicize and recognize the need for this strike among women who are not in Social Networks.
Flyering and creation of dynamizers (PINs, etc ...) are extremely important, but to make them possible we need your help.
