Campaign to equip a community space in the 2nd Torrão neighborhood with essential furniture and materials. With construction already underway, we need €1200 to make the space functional, welcoming, and active for children, young people, and the entire community.

In the 2nd Torrão neighborhood, in Trafaria , a collective process of rehabilitating a community space is underway, a collaborative effort organized by the 2nd Torrão Recreational Group.

What is this crowdfunding for?

We are raising €1200 to purchase furniture and equipment (through a public shopping list) that will support the activities of the space.

A gift registry functions like a wish list that can be shared so that others can directly contribute to acquiring the necessary items ( IKEA ).

These materials include:

  • tables, chairs and storage

  • elements for the community kitchen

  • equipment to support the daily use of the space

What is already happening?

Frame Colectivo, an architecture, research, and art studio, proposes, as part of its residency in the Fragmented Cities program, a workshop entitled "DJUNTA MÔ Table-Workshop ," a participatory construction process focused on creating a community counter-table , involving women from the neighborhood. The construction and development of the project are supported by the Directorate-General for the Arts. This campaign is an essential complement : it allows us to equip the space and make it welcoming for children. Crowdfunding helps secure the equipment that activates the space.

Why is it important?

This space is being designed as:

  • a community kitchen

  • a library for young people

  • an intergenerational meeting point

A place where meals are cooked, but also where:

  • learn

  • organize activities

  • They create support networks.

Without furniture and equipment, these possibilities become limited.

Why support?

By contributing, you are:

  • to equip a real, usable community space

  • to support a collective process already underway.

  • strengthen local autonomy and organization

  • Transforming a public investment into concrete and lasting impact for 2,500 people living in the neighborhood.

By supporting it, you are making a space usable.

This project has already begun.
It's already under construction.

Now there's only one step left, and you can be an essential part of it.

The Collective Frame and the Recreational Group thank you!

About the author

Frame Colectivo is an architecture, research, and art studio founded in 2013 by Agapi Dimitriadou and Gabriela Salhe. It works with interdisciplinary methodologies, crossing architecture, research, sociology, and artistic practices engaged with social and ecological issues, from decolonial and counter-colonial perspectives. The collective regularly collaborates with artists and local communities to develop new forms of horizontal communication within the framework of expanded architecture, understanding architecture not only as the construction of buildings, but as a cultural, political, and relational practice. Since 2017, it has intervened in the 2nd Torrão through participatory construction projects and cultural initiatives, promoting the activation of community spaces.

The 2nd Torrão Recreational Group, based at the neighborhood association, is a collective structure formed by residents with the goal of strengthening the community through cultural, educational, and social initiatives. Currently, it is undergoing a restructuring process, seeking to develop activities and transform its headquarters into an active meeting point, capable of hosting and promoting local initiatives. Focusing on mutual support and democratic participation, the group has sought to enhance and increase the visibility of the area, establishing partnerships with other associations in the city.

Recreational area of the 2nd Torrão

The cultural space is being conceived as a community space under construction, comprising a kitchen and a library, interconnected with each other. Each of these areas has the potential to remain flexible for different uses, prioritizing the needs of the community, and can accommodate everything from food preparation to learning, leisure, creation, and gatherings. In the long term, the aim is for this space to become a meeting point for cultural, educational, and community activities, in accordance with the association's initiatives.

Library

The library will be activated as an intergenerational living space for children, young people, and adults. To activate it, a seating area (chairs, sofa, etc.) will be needed. This collective support request (€1200) is for that equipment. Regarding books, we promote works by Black, Roma, and other authors of diverse origins, including those in the languages spoken in the community.

The books may cover the following topics.

  • children's and young adult stories

  • comics and illustration

  • art, music and culture

  • sport

  • technology

  • culinary arts / gastronomy

  • art and culture magazines

  • zines and independent publications

Community kitchen/café

The space's kitchen/café serves as a central hub for activating, organizing, and energizing activities. It functions as a base for dynamics similar to a community café, allowing for the preparation and sharing of meals and highlighting the community's gastronomic diversity.

In November 2026, this work will be part of the exhibition "Fragmented Cities" in the architecture, research and art space c/arpa (€600).

The total budget is €4800.
