Flor de Estufa - short film

A young woman leaves her country in search of a better life and ends up working in the greenhouses. On a daily basis, she struggles with loneliness, integration and poor living conditions.

This campaign aims to contribute to the costs of filming the academic short film Flor de Estufa.

In order to obtain a master's degree in Cinema at the University of Beira Interior, I decided to write and direct this film.

It is a very loving project, based on real immigration stories from my family and people I have been meeting over the years.

Through the story of a fictitious immigrant, I intend to portray the story of several others in the same situation, at a time when much is said about human trafficking and precarious working conditions.

However, all stories have their costs. This one needs your help to be told.

About the author

REALIZATION : Laís Andrade was born in 1997, in Brazil, and moved to Torres Vedras, Portugal, at the age of four. In 2018, she graduated in Communication Sciences at ISCSP-UL and found her love for cinema. Among summer jobs in stores, she finds inspiration for her first short film, Marca Branca, which she writes and directs during the Masters in Cinema at the University of Beira Interior. As the final project for this master's degree, she now works on Flor de Estufa, a story based on her family's immigration.

PRODUCTION : Margarida Franco is graduated from the School of Social Communication in Audiovisual and Multimedia. She has been working in TV and film production for three years, on different projects, as a freelancer .

DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY : Rita Grazina was born in Lisbon in 1992. With a degree in design and multimedia, she also studied audiovisual production - especially camera and lighting. She has been working as a cinematographer since 2014, collaborating with several projects in the areas of documentary, video clips and advertising.

SOUND DIRECTION : Mariana Dionísio was born in Lisbon in 1998. She finished her degree in cinema, in the sound field, at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, in 2019. She shows a special interest in music in cinema, sound design and recording and recording of sound in shooting context.

Budget and due dates

Filming will take place in Lisbon and Torres Vedras at the end of March 2020.

The total budget of the film is estimated at around € 1000, 30% of which is already financed. The main expenses are food for the team and travel between filming locations.
