Book: FIRE with Obligations

The book that introduces, in detail, the role of bonds in the journey to early retirement. From theory - what they are and which types exist - to practice - how to invest and how to integrate them into a FIRE plan. 🔥

CONTEXT

In February 2023 I published my first book, with its pre-sale campaign on this same platform. I knew instantly, from the happiness I felt while writing it, and the incredible feedback I received from readers, that this would be just the first of many. Today, just 9 months later, I am able to share news here again. The second book is here!

I have no shortage of ideas for the next FIRE series. Balance between the present and the future, optimization of numbers on the journey, FIRE as a family, protection strategies for early retirement... However, I chose to prioritize the FIRE with bonds theme, because I believe it is the most important theme at the moment . 🔥

THE BOOK: "FIRE com Obrigações"

This book delves into one of the assets that we can use to our advantage to build our financial independence: bonds .

I decided to start with this asset because I believe it is the one that will have the most impact on the Portuguese population. In our culture, we are born and raised with aversion to risk, and resistance to change is inherent in all of us. The unknown is uncomfortable. Therefore, if the Portuguese prefer investment in so-called fixed income, then this is the most urgent topic.

Savings and treasury certificates are the Portuguese's favorite investment products. According to data from Banco de Portugal, in 2023 all existing records were beaten, by a margin that leaves no doubt. In just four months of 2023, investment in savings certificates totaled 10,698 million euros, an average of 89 million euros… per day! Even in June, with the launch of the new F series – with worse conditions than the previous ones – the monthly investment exceeded the annual average for 2022, which is already very high.

But is this the only way to invest in debt securities? Not at all .

1. The first part of the book presents an overview of what bonds are, the types that exist and the characteristics of this asset class. It aims to build the theoretical foundations so that we can make conscious and informed decisions.
2. In the second part , the theory is linked to the practical part of investing in national, international, corporate and government bonds and debt securities. Directly, in a specific bond, and in a diversified way, through ETFs.
3. The third part combines all this information with the FIRE movement: the role of bonds in early retirement and the advantages and disadvantages of having them in your portfolio.

This book is for anyone who wants to preserve their capital. And it is also for those who, like me, accept having their money work for them in a more aggressive way, but want to add a safety net and optimize their portfolio.

Times are difficult and the future is uncertain. It is up to us to do what we can to control what can be controlled and improve what has room for progression. I hope this book helps. ❤️‍🔥🫶

PURPOSE OF FUNDRAISING

This book will be self-published, which means all costs are on my side and have to be paid in advance now. The total, from editing to printing and shipping, amounts to €7,000 .

The pre-sale campaign has, for me, the advantage of raising the necessary initial investment amount, and for the supporter, the possibility of purchasing the book in pre-sale , a few months before it is available in traditional bookstores, and also with special conditions and gifts .

Through this initiative, I intend to raise at least the amount corresponding to the expenses already paid (editing, design and printing of the book, and extra gifts) - €6,212 .

The idea is not to collect donations (although you can do so, if you wish), but rather to carry out a kind of advance sale of the book with some special treats, under conditions that will never exist again.

About the author

Dama de Ouros is a 31-year-old engineer who shares her journey to financial independence on her social networks and blog ( www.damadeouros.com ) with complete transparency and maximum detail. On social media she found an incredible community, which has more than 27,700 people, and with the blog she (re)discovered her great passion for writing.

Every day she comes into contact with thousands of people with similar goals, helping whenever possible by sharing his own experience on this journey.

As an engineer on the path to FIRE, she plans to start in parallel with her career as a writer - her calling profession. This is the second book she publishes in 2023.

The first was launched in February, with the help of its first PPL campaign .

BUDGET - €6,320

4. Gifts and merchandising: €2,900

On this platform, if the necessary amount of financing is not reached, the initiative is canceled. Therefore, I choose to use a considerably lower value as my objective - €2,500 -, hoping to complete the fundraising process. There is no problem with exceeding the amount initially requested.

The books and all the gifts are ready for shipping from December 11th! Therefore, as soon as you make your support/purchase, I will start processing until the 15th to send the order. Shipments will be made in purchase order.

Purchases made before December 15th will be sent by priority mail (to arrive before Christmas), subsequent purchases will be sent by editorial mail and there is no guarantee of being delivered before the festive season.
