Recover childhood memories, the old fados hummed in the ear, and say present to new sounds. Help this project to become a reality.
Coimbra’s Fado has been my passion from a very early age. Deep down, how is it possible not to fall in love with it?! I think that everybody shows sympathy for this musical genre. Even if you don't listen to it every day, it's almost impossible to remain indifferent to the sounds of the Portuguese guitar and the emotional and lyrical way in which each song is interpreted.
The truth is that, even without having a direct contact with Coimbra’s Fado, there is always one theme that you know and are eager to hear. Be it your first or last monumental serenade as a student, casual listening, or the times when your grandparents sang Fado when you were little, as is my case.
This work of mine aims to draw people to listen to Coimbra’s Fado more often and make the style more known, in a smoother and more accessible way. I’ve recorded an album with very different themes (and also many surprises), so that everyone can identify with at least one song. If I can get you to listen and identify yourself with one of my themes, my job has already been worth doing.
As we all know, living off culture in Portugal is quite difficult, especially when talkinf about Coimbra’s Fado, and it’s that lack of support that led me to create this campaign.
Only with your help will I have the chance to complete this project and launch concert(s). Give me your support and become part of this mission, which aims to promote my greatest passion, COIMBRA’S FADO.

About the author
I am from Tomar, the city where I was born and grew up until I enrolled in the University of Coimbra when I was 18 years old. Before starting to sing, I learned to play classical guitar (viola). I never had formal training, I learned the basics from my brother and from videos I found on the internet. From an early age, music has been my escape and my best way of communicating/expressing myself. As you can see in the introductory video, I stutter.
This is a condition that is part of me for as long as I can remember. I was never the best at presenting papers at school, giving speeches or even discussing trivial subjects with my friends at the cafè. After many appointments with psychologists, speech therapists, among others… singing always turned out to be the best therapy to deal with this condition.
From the moment I step onto a stage, I feel like I'm someone else. I become a confident, attractive and fearless person. I've had the opportunity to sing in important concert halls in our country, such as the Centro Cultural de Belém, Casa da Música, Convento de S.Francisco, etc… and it was precisely there that I felt the most pleasure in singing.
Since I moved to Coimbra, I came in contact with different groups of the Fado Section at the Academic Association of Coimbra. I had vocal technique classes aimed for Coimbra’s Fado with Professor João Barros da Silva and Eduardo Almeida. I have always worked to improve myself.
Currently, I am part of the team of musicians at Fado ao Centro. With Fado ao Centro I have traveled all over the country in different types of shows. From typical street serenades to large show rooms.
After a few years of dedication to this musical genre, I feel that it is time to leave my mark on Combra’s Fado.
