EUROVELO 1 - Woman Riding Solo

I could go by car, but it would never be the same! By bike alone and autonomously, I will cross Portugal from North to South on the Eurovelo 1 route.

Little explored but with immense potential, the EuroVelo 1 route belongs to the European Cycle Paths network that currently includes 15 long-distance cycling routes that cross the European continent.

From Norway to Portugal, the Atlantic Coast Route connects some of the most beautiful seascapes in the world. Marked by dramatic fjords, sunny beaches and bustling port cities.

The route crosses Norway, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, France, Spain and Portugal.

I will cover the entirety of Eurovelo1 in Portugal, pointing out the main points of interest, supplies and difficulties on the way in order to promote our country in the international cycling community.

With 41 years old, two children and a passion for cyclotourism, I intend to make Eurovelo1 known and show that our only limit is the mind...

In 2019 and 2021 I completed three paths to Santiago. Two of them in solo autonomy.

On this journey I noticed the enormous support I had, which translated into the way many other women broke ties and inspired by my path, they also decided to take their backpack and take the first step.

In 2022 I want to go beyond my limit - to travel Eurovelo1 alone in autonomy and, once again, prove to myself that the limit for my dreams and for all of us lies only in the intensity with which we believe and risk.

Budget and due dates

The budget includes the purchase of a Specialized Creo Gravel Bike (or similar, subject to availability) to complete the project with a value of 3,300 euros, autonomous transport bags worth 300 euros and accommodation and meals on the way with an estimated value of 300 euros. 900 euros.

Of this amount, I lack 2,000 euros to meet the objective.

The departure will take place at the end of September and will last approximately 12 days.

Departure from Caminha on the 17th of September and return from Vila Real de Santo António on the 29th of September. The stages are scheduled for a route of 18 stages, although he intends to complete in just 12.
