Alice is a woman whose illness overshadows her destiny. Does what she writes have any value to anyone other than saving her from herself? She is a slave woman in many senses, waiting to explode.'The Writer'. A tale about a woman with an unusual talent for writing, overshadowed by a psychological illness: hypergraphy - the incurable disease of writing. Alice, our muse, suffers from the urge to write, failing to staunch the verbal stream that plagues her. Alongside her fight against illness, comes the conflicting relationship she has with her husband. This is the premise of 'The Writer'. A short film that will be born by the hand of Hugo Pinto, director who already has two short films in the curriculum, both deserving of several prizes and national and international distinctions - TU and Mirror, Mirror. TU, launched in December 2016, with Catarina Lima and Gonçalo Cabral, narration by Afonso Pimentel. TU has been in almost all the festivals in Portugal and through the New York Portuguese Short Film Festival (NYPSFF of the Art Institute), passing in 27 countries, with prizes conquered in Portugal and abroad. It was shown on short cinemax on RTP with an estimated average audience of 28,000 viewers (gfk source). In 2018, he made the short Mirror, Mirror, a revenge film, a thriller story with black humor, made for the 48hours lisbon film project. Winner of several prizes in this festival being the high point the selection for the MotelX of that year in Cinema São Jorge with 900 spectators in the exhibition. It is time for 'The Writer' to be born. The film talks about the close connection between genius and depressive illness, in the soul of a rising writer, pregnant with twins and with emotional conflicts with her husband. An argument with a huge cinematic potential, supported by a dream team, with the desire to leave a mark in the history of cinema. Be a part of the project!
