I decided to start this crowdfunding campaign on the suggestion of a great friend. I thought a lot about whether I should formalize it, but asking for help is an act of humanity. Thank you for being there. God bless you!
Dear friends,
On January 16th of this year, I was abruptly left without a job, in an unprecedented situation.
I applied for a job at a municipal company where I had previously worked. I was the selected candidate. I would be close to home, my children's schools, and would save on daily commutes outside the Lisbon municipality. After being informed that I had been the selected candidate, I legally terminated my employment contract with a company located in the Amadora municipality.
I started my new role on January 5th, and on the 14th, my direct supervisor informed me that I would be dismissed during my probationary period, without providing a formal justification for this decision. I decided to seek legal assistance, but the processes are lengthy and the outcomes are not always predictable. This arbitrary, inexplicable, and immoral decision has abruptly left me without a salary, awaiting an uncertain decision from Social Security regarding the allocation of unemployment benefits. With two children, an income of €890, and a bank account far too meager to cope with a month without income, I decided to ask for help to manage this month and avoid being unable to provide for the essentials. I cannot rely on family support, only on the help of friends.
The amount indicated in the fundraising campaign covers the rent for our house (€890) for the month of February and the legal fees (€250) for initiating the dismissal process (and the fees charged by the platform*).
I decided to start this crowdfunding campaign on the suggestion of a close friend. It's not a place anyone wants to be – the one publicly asking for help. Thank you for reading to the end of this presentation.
Thank you! A big hug from Ana Marta
