Recording of the first CD by David Costa and Pedro Ferro. Portuguese music for Oboe and Piano, with the special participation of Rosinda Costa in the declamation of the poem "Cântico Negro" by José Régio.
This is an old dream to record a CD!
We wanted to start precisely with our last project because it is the one that makes us most proud.
This CD comes from the show with the same name, designed as a whole, intimate, relaxed and without a break where we put together projection of images and slides, poem recitation and presentation by the musicians with works by Anne Victorino d'Almeida, Nuno Côrte-Real, Sérgio Azevedo and Alfredo Teixeira.
Oboe and Piano in Portuguese is music that is close to us, both physically and emotionally.
We'll count with the precious collaboration of Tiago Cordeiro in the musical production and the voice of actress Rosinda Costa for the poem by José Régio.
From a total of 3000€ for recording and editing the CD, we need your help to get 2000€ to make this project a reality. We have the support - worth €500, from Buffet Crampon Portugal (David Costa is a Buffet artist for Portugal and Spain) and Cardoso e Conceição.
Goals
- Publicize the music of Portuguese composers for oboe and piano
- Publicize the instrument Oboe
- Encourage the use of Portuguese music in music schools
- Promote the Portuguese language and culture
Program to record:
"Sonatina for Oboe and Piano No 2" by Sérgio Azevedo;
A work with a French spirit with long melodies and pleasant harmony, with echoes of Ravel and Poulenc, with a tender and festive character
"Brief Sonatina for Oboe and Piano" by Anne Victorino d'Almeida;
Sonatina in 4 contrasting movements. The first, simpler, based on the sound of drops falling into a bathtub; the second, a Presto, is the opposite of the first; the third a slow, sweet dance; the latter is again a fast tempo with fluid lines and overlapping melodic elements.
"Cântico Negro Op. 19" by Nuno Côrte-Real (Dedicated to David and Simão Costa);
Inspired by the homonymous poem by José Régio, it was commissioned for the final course exam. Just as the poem is a strong and character work, a manifesto to freedom, artistic and beyond.
"Canto I - in memoriam" by Alfredo Teixeira ;
The “Canto” series have as a distinguishing feature the fact that they are instrumental works that derive from vocal/choral works. The musical atmosphere, in its brief gestures and microclimates, sought to be particularly sensitive to spiritual transparency and suspended temporality. "Canto I" was born in the year of the death of three personalities who, in their own way, marked the national scene: Antonio Tabucchi; Bernardo Sassetti; Fernando Lopes
"Sonatina No 3 for Oboe and Piano" by Sérgio Azevedo (Dedicated to Pedro Ferro and David Costa);
Work of greater maturity and difficulty. Also in 4 different movements and revisiting other works by the composer, trying to show the various metamorphoses of music according to the different timbre texture for each piece.
