“Chelas nha Kau” has just been selected for IDFA, the biggest documentary festival in the world. We are missing 1124 euros so that four of the people who participated in the film can be present at the screening and debate session of the film.

What does it mean to be young in Zone J? “Chelas nha Kau” was born from the desire of a group of friends to tell their story and that of the neighborhood where they live. It is a collective documentary produced by the multimedia creation cooperative Bagabaga Studios and the youth group from Zona J Bataclan 1950. Together, we recorded music in a pantry, turned window sills into a tripod and filmed universes with mobile phones that a professional video camera would hardly be able to capture.

"Are we really going to be able to make a movie like that you see in the cinema?" In 2016, when we started the first recordings, no one could actually answer this question. Today, we know that the answer is “yes, we will make it”. “Chelas nha Kau” premiered in 2020 at DocLisboa and has just been selected for the International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam (IDFA), the largest documentary festival in the world, which will take place between November 17th and 28th, 2021.

Whenever possible, we try to get representatives from Bagabaga Studios and Bataclan 1950 to be present at the screenings of the film and to contribute to the debate generated. We would like this time to be no exception and, for that, we count on your support. We are 1,124 euros short so that four of the people who participated in the film (two from Bagabaga and two from Bataclan 1950) can travel to Amsterdam, Netherlands, and be present at the screening and debate session of “Chelas nha Kau” at IDFA .

Anyone who helps us will receive a poster and a postcard of the film.

Thanks! We are counting on your support.
