College young people? Hot landscapes? Disinterested solidarity? Old cars? It's none, it's all. It's UNIRAID!
Combining the hunger for adventure with the smell of gasoline and the need and desire to help seems like a "plot" worthy of a movie from the "007" saga.
No, it's not.
We are ONLY talking about Uniraid, where young university students hit the road in dubious cars but with the unshakable certainty that they will be able to help and deliver +40kg of solidarity material through villages with difficult access in the Moroccan desert.
Uniraid is an international raid aimed at college students who are actively looking to make the world a little better. It is a 9-day journey through the Moroccan desert with the main aim of solidarity and helping others, this great mission is taking great steps forward from the 11th edition. During these intense days, the teams will travel 3500km passing through some villages in the desert and distributing much needed material to these populations (clothing, footwear, toys, school supplies, etc.).
Unfortunately, as much as the intentions are the best, in this kind of activities you always need the money to invest. There is a need for the various teams to invent themselves to raise the necessary capital to pay for registrations, vehicle, gasoline, meals, spare parts and other costs that are even unavoidable. Whether through sponsorships, financial campaigns or even asking door-to-door, at the end of the day we all want to reach the end of this great mission with a smile on our face and not a burden on our wallet. In this way, the "Os Far(a)ois" team, in addition to having contact with some companies and workshops and selling homemade items, will also be updated on the PPL platform to welcome and reward the best they can get to all the charitable souls who want to feel that are part of this great adventure.

About the author
"Hello! My name is Miguel Barroso and I am studying at the Faculty of Sports of the University of Porto, now for the third year. Although I am passionate about the Portuguese north and have chosen the beautiful city of Porto to study, I am a very proud Conimbrian citizen and I am very proud in my hometown, Coimbra. From an early age my patient parents were instilling in me and my 6 siblings the spirit of adventure, detachment and solidarity. I took part in various activities through various organizations that have always allowed me to explore these teachings. Family missions, university country mission, activities related to scouts or the parish youth group, etc. The need to help and not be quiet was always present, so my partnership with Marco for an activity of this caliber came almost as a next step that was necessary and inevitable."
"Greetings, dear friends, a little further north from my colleague from Coimbra, here I am! Born in Porto, more specifically a good Gondomarian who wants to set out in search of the world. Student at the Faculty of Sport of the University of Porto and with a good « genetica» to withstand traveling more than 5,000 km in search of smiles.
Like Miguel, the adventurous spirit and helping others was always something very present in my reality and that my parents instilled as values to follow. In this sense, my path so far has been filled with moments and situations in which I always try to give my best, be included in the Youth Group to which I belong, the university missions and even the Mission to Cape Verde that I carried out in 2019 I like to assume that the place where I feel best is outside my comfort zone, so I joined Miguel in this experience that will undoubtedly be an experience for life, for us, for other adventurers, and to all the Moroccan families we will have the grace to help!"

Budget
Uniraid has a set of fixed and variable costs. The bulk of the fixed costs is the registration of 1790 euros, which includes accommodation, breakfast and dinner, 24 hour personal insurance, technical, health and mechanical support, ferry transport and some other costs within the activity. Apart from these expenses covered by the fixed cost of registration, there are gasoline (estimated at 400 euros), transport to the ferry boarding place (estimated at 80 euros), replacement parts (between 20 and 150 euros), the same car (never above 600 euros), geolocation equipment, meals and drinks (around 100 euros). Taking into account the forecasts and calculations made by the team, the Uniraid project will cost between 2600 and 3000 euros per team.
This money will be deducted (hopefully almost entirely) through sponsorships, donations and sale of items produced by the team.
