Theater on wheels

We are an amateur theater group that has a passion for theater, without support from the State. For the activities we carry out, we urgently need a van. Among all, it doesn't cost that much. Can we count on you?

Our association was founded in 2013.

Since then it has grown with the ambition to provide the community with the love we all have for theater. We have had several invitations, but due to transportation restrictions and the small number of owners of drivers license in our group, that can take the actors and materials that are part of our projects (we have only used the car of the president of the association, which has limited seats and luggage) we have been forced to refuse presentations further than 20km radius from our headquarters. 

As such, we are in dire need to have a van that allows us to transport the average number of cast members, sceneries, costumes, props, sound and light materials for our itinerant projects.

So we came up with the idea to share with you our ambitions in order to better serve those who also need a bit more culture and entertainment in their lives.

In order to acquire the appropriate van (9-seater cabin and open box), second hand, we need to raise a sum of 4,500.00 euro. With this van we can take our shows to schools, nursing homes and other locations further than the 20km radius we are currently bound to, in order to provide moments of entertainment, joy and culture to our audience  and internships for those who attend our activities of our group.

Everything the group has already managed to acquire has been the result of the effort of all those who participate in it, so now we ask your collaboration to help us collect the missing funds for the acquisition of our van. Even if you can only contribute with an euro, it will be welcomed, as we always believe that every little helps!

With your help and contribution, we will be able to hold sessions of our projects across the country, giving young people looking for theater as a profession or leisure time the possibility to realize their dreams in different places, with different audiences. On the other hand, we will be able to reach other communities with projects we develop, both in the areas of childhood plays (allowing an early contact with theater culture), and also in forum theater (theater plays that cause reflection and sharing of ideas on current issues, such as family, community support, human, civil and LGBTQIA+ rights). About the author

We are a non-profit association, with 8 years of existence, that performs theatrical activities in the Municipality of Odivelas. We started with a short text in TEATRO RÁPIDO - mini plays lasting 15min maximum- having over time increased the complexity of our projects.After two projects aimed at childhood and family, always taking care to address issues associated with today, we started to present projects dedicated to youth and adult audience, with adapted and original texts.

In 2019 we took the first steps in teaching dramatic expression to the elderly, on a voluntary basis, an activity interrupted by the pandemic and which we very much want to restart. This past year we presented 5 projects: "The Puss in Boots" (children’s play); "Meat for Slaughter” (play inserted in FestForum, a festival of forum/ debate theater on social matters), "The Lake" (youth - text integrated in th Festival Panos, under the responsibility of the D. Maria II National Theater); "Fear? Of Who? Of  Virginia!" (adults - Vila Franca de Xira City Hall Theater Festival) and Godspell (family - integrated in the project "Mural 18" of Lisbon metropolitan area). The group has 11 resident member - actors, directors and technicians.

We welcome young people interested in the art of acting and interns from professional courses in secondary education and higher education (undergraduate and master's degrees in Performing Arts). In the present academic year we have 11 interns from secondary education, 2 from undergraduate college education and 1 from a master's degree.

Within the humble transport conditions, we seek to boost theater projects in the metropolitan area of Lisbon. 

We seek to provide different experiences to young people seeking trianing in the Performance Arts area.

Budget and due dates

The budget of the van is 10,000.00 euros. We need 45% of the capital (4,500.00 euros) in 60 days, in order to purchase transport for the activities that start this fall.
