With this campaign we intend to raise some funds for our medical-veterinary debts. We count on your generosity and help so that we can reach our goal and continue to help cats at risk of life.
In 2017, we rescue 237 cats at risk, half of them sick babies that needed daily medical care. It was a difficult year with a lot of expenses and very few resources to take care of so many pets.
With the current situation, we are reducing the number of cats that are rescued and that are in charge of the association but, unfortunately, that’s not enough. To re-establish the financial situation of the association and be able to continue doing our work, we need to settle our debts from 2017 with Hospital Veterinário da Maia, which helped us in difficult and urgent moments. The expenses make up 8159,30€.
It is essential to collect this money so that we can continue to help domestic cats in the Maia and Porto area, as the number of requests for help is rising every year (on average, we receive five or six requests a day).

About the author
“O Cantinho do Tareco” (Kitty’s Corner) is a non-profit Animal Protection Association founded in 2009 by a group of friends and animal lovers in the Maia area, near Porto, Portugal. Its cat shelter is currently located in a building belonging to the Maia City Council.
Our work includes taking in cats that are at risk and homeless and giving them the best possible treatment until a family can be found to adopt them. All our work is done by volunteers, in partnership with veterinary clinics that allow us to pay in instalments. We survive on donations, which must pay for all the association’s expenses.
In the shelter, we have at the moment 74 cats available for adoption, 22 in medical treatment. Besides, there are 20 cats in FAT (Foster Temporary Family), which expenses are also support by the association, and 4 FeLV-positive cats that are in a separate room and demand extra care. Additionally, we give medication and make supervision of all cats in the shelter everyday and we have to go to the veterinary clinics at least two times a week.
We are hoping that, with this campaign, we will succeed in paying off at least part of this debt and be able to continue our volunteer work, with the support of the veterinary clinic that has been helping us to date, especially as the medical expenses for 2018 have already been taken care of.

Pagamento das despesas de Julho e Agosto de 2017
Vimos por este meio agradecer a todos os apoiantes pelas contribuições generosas que nos possibilitaram atingir o objectivo, estamos muito felizes por conseguirmos aliviar um pouco a divida de despesas médico-veterinárias do ano de 2017.
Hoje o valor chegou-nos na conta e foi o total de 3.767,16€ pois foi nos debitado o iva e comissões da plataforma e do pagamento.
Hoje fizemos a transferencia do valor para o Hospital Veterinário da Maia e assim liquidamos o mês de Julho e Agosto de 2017 finalmente.
Agora continuaremos a trabalhar para fechar o ano de 2017 e continuar bem no ano de 2018.
