House of Talents - Tanzania

House of Talents is a project that supports communities in extreme poverty, through an artistic acrobatics school for children, as well as English teaching and a permaculture project for the community of Chanika Village in Tanzania.

“I had the pleasure of meeting Nina Astrid, one of the founders of this project, several years ago in Lisbon, and 10 years later I received her invitation to support this beautiful project in Tanzania. In January 2025, I finally traveled to the village of Chanika, Tanzania, to volunteer for this cause.

But the experience was not what I expected. Living conditions are still very precarious, which really touched my heart. There is still no running water or gas, and even electricity is precarious, as well as the lack of all kitchen appliances and very rudimentary bathrooms. I could not stay in these conditions for long, but it was long enough for me to decide to help this project and the approximately 30 children in this community. I realized that the chances of creating a better future for these children are also in our hands, and so I invite everyone to give their support and help finance this school and this project that covers a large community of families on the brink of poverty. Our goal is that in a few years they will all have better living conditions, that they will be able to speak better English and that they will grow with their artistic skills, creating a future with more opportunities for these young people. The work is long, as they still live in a survival situation where access to medical care is also scarce, but we can make a difference through these projects and support. Application of Donations

We need 11,000 Euros to continue the project in 2025:

About the author

Our heart is the Talent House, an acrobatic and artistic centre near Dar es Salaam, which provides a community space for children and young people living in poverty. We founded the Children and Youth Community Organisation (CYCO), an NGO in Tanzania, supported by the non-profit association FTJT in Switzerland in 2021.

The project currently survives exclusively on International Donation Funds, with the ultimate goal of becoming independent through the School and the artistic shows produced. Around 25 thousand Euros have been invested annually through various international donations, which have enabled the construction of the school and garden, and which has already covered around 50 children and their families, as well as dozens of adults in free Permaculture workshops for the community.

This is a full-time project for the founders and involves around 35 people, many of them volunteers in Switzerland and Tanzania, to create, maintain and manage the entire project.
