Breaking the cycle of poverty through studies - Suborna's project

This project aims to provide a 17 year old girl from the slums of Bangladesh with the best weapon a child can have: studies to be able to win in life and with that break the cycle of extreme poverty of her generation.

Suborna is a 17-year-old girl from the slums of Bangladesh. She comes from a family that faces extreme poverty and where the opportunities for girls to study and win in life are almost none. Their fate, in the vast majority, is child labor and early marriage, often with a much older and abusive husband. It is to avoid this faith that a group of people come together to get this girl out of such destiny and give her the best weapon of all: the opportunity to study and change her world through studies, thus breaking this great cycle of poverty that follow generation after generation. She is currently at the Polytechnic of Bragança in the first year of university in the course of International Business Management. She started her first semester in March 2020. Now we want to ensure that nothing basic is missing.

In this case, this fundraising is intended to cover tuition fees for one academic year. If we are able to cover this expense, it is already a great help to ensure that she carries this objective to the end, which is to complete her studies without any hiccups as she is 100% dependent on voluntary help to be able to continue studying.

If we save a life ... it is as if we saved all of humanity !!

About the author

I, Mário Marques, gave hand to this project when it was introduced to me in January of this year. At the time I was helping her brother (who was already in Portugal studying at the Polytechnic of Bragança) with whom I created a great bond of proximity. When help was no longer needed, he asked me to try to help her sister who was at the time in Bangladesh and who wanted to provide her with the same study opportunity that he was having. I accepted this challenge and put hands to work to make this dream of Suborna come true. I tried to give visibility to the project through Facebook and step by step more people got together to participate in this challenge to bring this girl from Bangladesh who was already at risk. Among visas, certificates, authorizations and all documentation at the IPB in Bragança, what seemed so difficult was successfully achieved. Now that she is already in Portugal, it's the management of her fixed monthly expenses that demands another big challenge. All the help she receives is entirely from private donations that allow the expenses to be covered so she can continue to study. If one day this support fails, she will face a shattered dream and will have no option but to give up and return to her country, to the life of suffering that she previously had. All cents are counted to ensure that nothing is missing from Suborna so that her only concern is to study, show results and thus be able to take the studies to the finish line.

Budget and due dates

Budget:

The target amount is 1316 €, corresponding to the annual tuition fee, which means that 100% of the amount raised is ment to the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança to cover the expenses of Suborna's fee for the academic year 2020/2021. Anything that exceed the target will be fully applied in her expenses, which are not few (besides tuition fees she also have to face room accommodation, meals, etc.).

Timetable:

As soon as the amount is reached and made available, the annual fee can be paid immediately.
