Our Super Rogério (just 20 months old) was born with encephalopathy. Currently, he lacks an adapted chair essential for his development, which costs €8,000. We need you so together we can help give Rogério all the care he deserves!
Context behind the campaign
Rogério was born with epileptic encephalopathy with delayed psychomotor development due to problems during birth. He suffers from refractory epilepsy, which in his case results in the occurrence of several epileptic attacks per day, for which he takes different drugs every day. He was declared disabled in March this year, which gives him a permanent global disability of 88% (in the images available below, you will find the official declaration of disability).
Little Rogério's health condition, or Super Rogério , as we like to call him, requires, in addition to multiple drugs, several other expenses: equipment for feeding through a nasogastric tube, physiotherapy sessions and various medical consultations. These burdens go beyond the family's financial capabilities and it is in this sense that Sorrisos de Criança Association emerged, a non-governmental organization based in Gaia that reaches out and helps those in need of support. This association provides support to homeless people and families in need, through the delivery of food and other goods, but above all it helps children with special needs. Currently, the Association covers physiotherapy sessions and its new objective, together with the boy's parents, is to raise the necessary funds to buy a chair adapted to his needs through this campaign.

Adapted chair
Currently, Super Rogério lacks a piece of equipment crucial for his development - an adapted chair. This chair has several essential uses , which vary from child to child, in Rogério's case consisting of: preventing deformities or worsening of existing ones resulting from the stiffness of his muscles (muscular spasticity), allowing support and correct positioning of the neck, knees and hips, correcting posture, in order to prevent bone scoliosis, deformities and the need for surgical intervention. Furthermore, the adapted chair substantially increases the comfort of its user.
Every minute that passes without access to an adapted chair negatively impacts Rogério’s development. Since the chair is personalized to the user's specific needs and is not covered by public healthcare, its cost is high. In this case the cost is around €8000. This is why we need your help! Every donation counts and together we can change Rogério's life by allowing him access to the health care and well-being he deserves .

As mentioned, the adapted Super Rogério chair costs approximately €8000. With this campaign, we aim to raise €5,000 . We appreciate any and all help.
Usually, in PPL fundraising campaigns, when the objective is not reached, all the money raised is returned to the donors. However, in the context of social causes, you can choose for your donation to not be returned to you, that is, if you select this option, even if we are unable to reach the goal of €5000, all the money donated and not returned will continue to form part of the fund to purchase the chair.
