The goal is to spend a month and a half between Thailand and Cambodia on a volunteer mission in three schools, two in Thailand and one in Cambodia, giving English lessons.
Last March, I went to Africa for the first time. Uganda was my choice to do my first volunteer mission outside the European continent. It was a month full of emotions, a constant challenge and a test of everything. I was very happy with almost nothing and I want to continue to do so with all my heart.
This time I want to extend the challenge: a month and a half (from October to the middle of November), first in Thailand, then in Cambodia.
I will spend six weeks giving English classes to children, two of them in Singburi, in Thailand, another two in Hua Hin, also in Thailand and the last two at Greenway School in Cambodia.
Is there anything more gratifying than seeing the eyes of those who have nothing shining, but living as if they have everything?
And because today's children are the main agents of change for tomorrow, and as I believe education is the key to fighting disease and poverty, I urge you to believe in me and help me to give these children a better future!
I promise you will love being part of this story as much as I do, as well as seeing the smile on those children's faces.
I know I can count on you, for a better and more conscious world!
About the author
My name is Raquel and almost a year ago I founded Right Buddy, the first marketing agency focused on social responsibility, to put together two of my passions: writing and volunteering. I am currently a social media and events manager, and I am also an English teacher and a social, environmental and animal activist.
In this entrepreneurial project, in addition to developing digital projects, we actively develop and participate in social projects. Because we want, little by little, to educate people and to make them aware that together we can make a huge difference.
I believe that we can, step by step, make the world a better place and that, together, we can effectively do it. I believe that we are much happier if we give and receive and I also believe that volunteering is not only our contribution to the other, but also what others allow us to discover about ourselves.
Volunteering has been part of me for many years: at the university, I helped disabled students to do their jobs. Already in the working world, I taught autistic children and, a little later, I began rescuing animals in danger, taking care of them and then, putting them for adoption.
Budget and due dates
This crowdfunding campaign ends on September 30. I'm counting on going to Thailand and Cambodja early October and staying there for exactly a month and a half. The date will later be announced on social media and shared with all supporters. Although this campaign does not cover all the costs during this month and a half (flight, lodging and meals), it will help me to carry my mission to good port since, without your help, I will not be able to do it. The aim is to raise, through this crowdfunding platform, the amount to do voluntary work in three different cities (two in Thailand: in Hua Hin and Singburi, giving English lessons and another one in Cambodia, also teaching kids).
This is the second volunteer mission I will do outside Europe. In March 2018 I spent a month in Uganda teaching English to children and developing women's empowerment projects in Jinja and Kampala and helping the 22 Stars Kids Foundation institution in raising sponsors so that children in those cities can go to school and have a hot meal each day. In that first mission I raised € 995, which served as support for the € 1600 spent in Uganda (flights included).
In these projects the flights will cost approximately €600 + €50 from Thailand to Cambodia and accommodation and food is estimated at € 195 per week.
If this campaign is financed in full, there are commissions that will be deducted: 5% + VAT charged by PPL and 2.5% + VAT to cover the payment partners' commissions.
