We plan to open a Portuguese class for immigrants because the knowledge of the host language is essential to their integration as full citizens.
The knowledge of the host country language is essential to the full integration of immigrants, because the language domain plays a decisive role in their capacity as full citizens and also in relation with their culture and with those around them.
In Mouraria, the most multicultural district of Lisbon, cohabit 50 different nationalities, with cultures and lifestyles disparate but closely linked by trade and local businesses. Since the most immigrants based in Mouraria have disadvantaged socio-economic contexts, is essential to constantly offer portuguese language training courses .
It was the recognition of the importance of language teaching as a vehicle for learning cultures, citizenship and integration tool that motivated the Associação Renovar a Mouraria to do, since 2013, Portuguese courses that have already reached 313 immigrants.
This year we need everyone's help to succeed in creating a class of 20 students!
Objectives:
- Gather 20 students;
- Offer 150hours of training , for 3 months
- Promote an open dialogue for the development of greater social and human consciousness.
