Support homeless couple to rent a room

Pedro and Ana are a couple who have been homeless since January 2023. Their health situation worsened significantly over the winter and for their survival it is urgent for them to get off the street.

The campaign aims to raise donations so that Pedro and Ana can rent a room where they can start their lives over.

They are a polite couple and have an honest conduct. They are currently spending the night in a tent in Pragal, Almada.

Pedro underwent a surgical intervention and Ana is waiting to be called so she can also undergo a surgical intervention.

They are in an extreme situation and need initial help to turn a corner and be able to return to a life within society.

About the author

The campaign was created by two residents of Almada who were touched by the precarious situation in which Pedro and Ana find themselves and unhappy with the apathy and negligence of public institutions.

Public institutions are unable to respond to this social urgency. The institutions that were asked for help (with no response) were: Support center for the homeless in Almada, Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Almada and AMI.

Since the summer of 2023, contacts have been established with the institutions in order to find a solution, without success.

The amount raised will be used to pay the rent for a couple's room for three months. The monthly price for the room is around €500. If there is any remaining funds, it will be used to purchase medication or basic necessities.

After this initial help to provide them with a roof over their heads, a bathroom and a shower, Pedro and Ana returned to their active working lives.
