The pandemic year brought the impossibility of fundraising, through the organization of events. With the escalation of aid applications for animals at risk, we need help to settle the bills at veterinary clinics.
Associação Patinhas sem Lar, based in Espinho, was created 8 years ago. We have a canine shelter with a capacity for 110 dogs, and a cattery with a capacity for 80 cats. All animals are properly vaccinated, dewormed and neutered if they are more than 6 months old. In addition to the money spent to keep the animals sheltered, in the best sanitary conditions, there is also the high costs of animals collected from the street in need of urgent veterinary care: animals run over with bone fractures, animals with parasitic diseases and others, litters of dogs and cats newborns abandoned. The abandonment of animals worsened during the pandemic period. From January to March this year, we collected 50 dogs and 40 cats, many of them in need of veterinary care, which escalated our debts at veterinary clinics. At the moment, we owe 7000 euros at the Veterinary Hospital of Santa Marinha, and requests for help are daily. We created this campaign with the aim of raising 2500 euros to settle part of the debt related to veterinary treatments, so that we can continue to help so many sick animals, delivered to themselves.
