The Banco de Fraldas is a unique project in Portugal, designed essentially to provide access to incontinence absorption materials for people/families in economic need.

It consists of a logic of social emergency supplementation, which helps to balance the family budget, protects the health of those who use diapers daily, without generating dependence on support, since we donate diapers equivalent to the estimated average use of one week.

The diapers are donated to families, through social and health institutions that support them, with the creation of partnerships.

Families' purchasing power is increasingly reduced, which is reflected in the acquisition of absorbent materials - diapers - an essential, expensive good with little state support.

To continue our work of doing what is needed, we need you.

Support the Banco de Fraldas and our families!

About the author

Passo Positivo, based in Matosinhos, was born in 2010 through the willpower of a group of friends who voluntarily built and developed it.

Our mission is to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable people or those working in crisis situations, filling gaps in support in complementarity with other institutions, promoting the increase of their skills and creating an impact on different generations for the exercise of global citizenship.

In this sense, we have three major projects:

  • The Banco de Fraldas where we collect and donate diapers, as well as provide training on the proper use of absorbent material for incontinence.
  • Vizinhos, for the prevention of domestic accidents among the population with functional disabilities. We carry out home visits and provide support material in order to prevent domestic accidents.
  • Humanitus educates professionals and/or volunteers for humanitarian action, and raises awareness of active citizenship in schools and workplaces.

In addition to these main projects, we have developed an entire internal Volunteer Program and belong to the Matosinhos and Valongo Social Network.

Currently, our team is made up of employees and volunteers.

We prioritize professional volunteering, which is why our governing bodies are made up of volunteers.

Budget and due dates

Each diaper has an average value of €0.45

30 diapers x €0.45 = €13.50 x 2 (two donations per family) = €27 = cost of donation per family

27€ * 22 families = 594€

We are asking for €594 to help at least 22 families.
