Mutirão is a crowdfunding campaign to guarantee the existence of the NowHere experimental art space. Get to know our work and support our initiative!
NowHere is a non-profit collective dedicated to reflections and practices in contemporary art. Coordinated by curator Cristiana Tejo and artists Luiza Baldan and Marilá Dardot, since 2018 it promotes critical accompaniment for artists, curators and researchers with a focus on discussions of conceptual and expressive strategies, welcoming residents and people in transit in Portugal, and fostering their qualification and insertion in the contemporary art scene. Laboratories, courses, workshops, events, artistic residencies, publication launches, solo and group exhibitions take place in our space located at the corner of Poiais de São Bento and Cruz dos Poiais streets, in Lisbon. This campaign is for the maintenance of this space. Besides supporting NowHere through our services, it is also possible to buy works by artists participating in our labs and also the special multiple made by Manuela Eichner. Friendly artists have also donated works that are for sale on our site. The complete list of works is available at: https://www.nowhere-lisboa.com/mutirao

About the author
NowHere is a collective founded in 2018 in Lisbon by curator Cristiana Tejo and artist Marilá Dardot, both Brazilian immigrants. Initially operating in Marilá's studio, the intention has always been to create an instigating environment, open to horizontal exchanges, and respectful for the discussion of conceptual and expressive strategies of the participating artists, offering interlocution, complicity, and integration in the local artistic environment for people of all backgrounds. As time passed and the community grew, the need was seen for a physical space that could hold both the laboratories and the exhibitions. In 2021, the artist Luiza Baldan joined the group with a suitcase, bag, and studio, to work on many fronts. And here we go, a collective of immigrant women mothers, adapting to the times and challenges, in a busy downtown corner, sheltering, inventing, supporting, and giving visibility to those who embark on this incredible journey on the route of the 28 streetcar.

Budget and due dates
The crowdfunding campaign is focused between December 2022 and January 2023, but support is open any time of the year. Efforts are concentrated now so that we can cover the costs of renting the NowHere physical location and the basic monthly services (water, electricity, internet, cleaning supplies, website). This collection does not include salaries or the hiring of services such as a press office, designer, etc. NowHere is a supporter of the solidarity economy of participants who exchange services for discounts on our activities. In parallel, we are still looking for other financial support so that we can work with dignity and remunerate our professionals for the services rendered. Any questions or additional information, we are here to clarify them.
