NowHere needs a new home — and your help building it

NowHere needs help to occupy its new headquarters and continue as an independent art space, welcoming dissident and diverse voices in Lisbon.

Since 2018, NowHere has been an independent contemporary art space in Lisbon that welcomes artists, curators, researchers, and diverse audiences—with a special focus on immigrants, women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and other underrepresented groups in the arts. More than just an exhibition space, NowHere is a vibrant community where art, critical thinking, and ways of living are experienced, created, and shared together.

🚨 But now, we need your help to continue existing.

Why are we here?

The rent on our old headquarters increased by nearly 400% , forcing us to vacate the space. It was a tough blow, but also an opportunity.

We managed to find a new space :

* bigger

* more accessible

* with potential to house more artists

* carry out more actions and further strengthen our network.

But it needs work to make it habitable and safe.

What is this campaign for?

The money raised will be used for the following renovation works :

🎨 General painting

💡 Changing the electrical installation

🚨 Safety equipment

💧 Hydraulic adjustments

Our goal is to guarantee decent working, living and creative conditions for artists, curators, visitors and the entire community that revolves around NowHere.

About the author

NowHere is an independent cultural association based in Lisbon, founded in 2018 and managed by Associação Cultural Satélite Matriarcal .

More than an exhibition space, NowHere is an experimental laboratory for artistic and curatorial practices that promotes residencies, exhibitions, meetings, debates and training activities.

We work collaboratively, critically and inclusively, offering artistic support and guidance through horizontal exchanges, with special attention to feminist, decolonial and intersectional perspectives.

Since its creation, NowHere has held dozens of free exhibitions, laboratories, residencies, and cultural events — always self-managed, with few resources and a strong commitment to art as a form of presence, listening, and social transformation.
