On January 11th, at 3 pm, in Lisbon, we will take to the streets against racism and xenophobia, to demand dignity, social rights and freedom for those who live and work in Portugal. We want the promises of April to be fulfilled.

Don't lean us against the wall!

What happened on Benformoso Street to hundreds of immigrants, with people cornered by the police, made it clear that we must not let this happen again.

We know that what became visible there was not an isolated act, it is something that happens regularly in other suburbs of Lisbon and the country.

All people living and working in Portugal must be treated with dignity, as enshrined in the laws of democracy, namely the Constitution of the Republic. Nothing more and nothing less is expected from a Democratic State.

We cannot accept lies that try to normalize and excuse the indefensible.

Security should not be confused with the instrumentalization of the police, nor with discriminatory repression against working-class populations, the poor, immigrants and racialized people who produce a large part of the country's wealth.

Portugal is still a State in which freedom and dignity are fundamental values.

On January 11th, at 3pm, in Lisbon, we will take to the streets against racism and xenophobia, to demand dignity, social rights and freedom for those who live and work in Portugal. We want the promises of April to be fulfilled.

From Alameda Afonso Henriques to Martim Moniz we will celebrate diversity, showing that all cultures are part of our common society.
