CD "Muralha" - Tun'Obebes (Female Engineering Cultural Group of the University of Minho)

Brick by brick, Tun'Obebes built the Wall where its history became song.

Brick by brick, Tun'Obebes built the Wall where its history became song.

After more than three decades of singing, laughing, and sharing unique moments, Tun’Obebes decided to immortalize part of its history on its first album: Muralha.

This album brings together original songs and arrangements that have accompanied the band's journey. Just like the wall that surrounds Guimarães, Tun'Obebes has also built, brick by brick, a history of unity, friendship, and strength that has united them since 1992.

This project is a tribute to Guimarães, the city that welcomed Tun'Obebes and inspired its journey. More than an album, it is a heartfelt tribute to all the tunantes who have been part of this family and who continue, day after day, to keep it alive.

Your support is essential to make this dream come true and to allow the music to echo even louder, taking the essence of Tun'Obebes beyond the walls of Guimarães.

About the author

In December 1992, a group of friends decided to celebrate their love for music and the Minho academic community, and founded the first female and engineering student music group at the University of Minho.

It was at CAR – Círculo de Arte e Recreio (Circle of Art and Recreation), formerly Ritmo Louco, that this group of students was welcomed to turn an ambition into reality. Thus, in Guimarães, a family emerged that has lasted for more than three decades: Tun'Obebes – the Female Engineering Tuna of the University of Minho. CAR remains a home for this group of students from Minho, and will always be remembered as their first rehearsal space. After much rehearsal in this venue, Tun'Obebes made its stage debut in April 1993 at the emblematic Teatro Jordão.

In order to celebrate music, friendships and traditions, bringing generations together, Tun'Obebes annually holds the Serenatas ao Berço festival for female student groups. This event takes place in Guimarães, a city of which this group is very proud! It is in this birthplace that they warmly welcome student groups from all over the country and, for the first time in 2024, a student group from Peru, thus transforming Serenatas ao Berço into an International Student Group Festival.

Over the years, traditions have been passed down from generation to generation, now counting more than 100 members who see Tun'Obebes as a second family and a home where they will always be welcome.
