I like to smile and learn, but life hasn't always smiled back at me the same way. My dream is to continue studying. I want to enroll in the Master's in Interdisciplinary Gender and Sexuality Studies at ISCTE – Lisbon University Institute. This course represents much more than an academic title: it is a path of healing, liberation, and catharsis—and I don't want to take another 18 years to complete it, as happened with my first degree.I grew up too fast. I was forced to be an adult when I should still have been playing. At six years old, I experienced something no child should have to live through. Instead of comfort and understanding, I was harshly punished—and learned to survive in silence.But I also learned to rise again. My personality was built on violent traumas, but also on a great deal of courage. I worked for 27 years in Parish Councils and, today, I am at the Directorate-General for Justice Policy. I believe in the power of education to change lives. My mother proved it. I am proving it—and I want my daughter to grow up knowing that knowledge is the most beautiful form of freedom.Every contribution—be it a symbolic amount, a share, or a word of encouragement—is a step closer to this dream. I believe that, with your support, I can transform pain into knowledge and knowledge into action. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for believing with me."

Vulnerability is also strength!

I am the product of a rare mix between an Angolan and a Cape Verdean who fled the war and struggled to raise two children. I have a younger brother who helped me finish my Bachelor's degree before starting a family. I was a working student before becoming a mother at 37, and I believe I can go back to that now that my baby is grown, because I miss books. I would like to finish my PhD at 51, and you might ask... but aren't you asking for help with the first year of your Master's? Yes, but I want to continue, I intend to fight and persevere until I get my PhD. Dreaming doesn't cost anything !

I confess, without false modesty, that I enjoy hearing a teacher say: "You got the highest grade in the class," or... "I'd never given an 18 before, but Fedra earned it!" And it's funny to hear these same words coming from my little girl, so proud, because despite her young age, she already spends hours and hours studying, of her own volition... DNA, perhaps?

I am someone who believes in the power of education to change lives — and this campaign reflects that belief! I also believe that smiling is good for everything !
