Vision

Transform Mother Africa into a landmark space in Lisbon, promoting not only African food, but also:

• Home-cooked cuisine, with typical African dishes and traditional cakes;
• Afro-descendant culture, with emphasis on crafts, fashion and music;
• A community meeting point for events, workshops and cultural exchanges.

To achieve the vision, it is necessary to carry out renovation works on the space already allocated to the Mãe África project.

Who am I?

Hello! I'm Hirondina Varela Correia, founder of Mãe África. I have roots in Cape Verde and a deep passion for African culture.

Creating Mother Africa was born from the desire to share Africa's cultural richness with the community. I believe that through authentic products and ancient traditions, we can build cultural bridges and promote inclusion.

Budget and due dates

Necessary support – Crowdfunding Objective

To open Mercearia Mãe África with dignity and structure, I need help

1. Construction work and space preparation

• Floor and wall coverings
• Reinforcement of piping and electrical parts
• Installation of a small functional kitchen
• Shelves, countertops and service counter

BUDGET:

• The budget assumes that the space will be handed over by CML in usable conditions, requiring only adaptation works for grocery/restaurant activities.
• This budget does not include equipment such as refrigerators, scales, cash registers or computer systems (which will be targeted in another crowdfunding phase).

2. Essential equipment for production and conservation

These are the most expensive items, but also the most important for ensuring food production and conservation:

• Industrial refrigerators and freezers
• Professional oven for cakes and typical dishes
• Electric kneader for dough and cakes
• Industrial stove
• Packaging sealing machine and other production tools

3. Purchase of products and materials

• Traditional African foods (corn, beans, cassava, fufu, palm oil, etc.)
• Typical drinks
• Packaging, labels, cloths, fabrics and crafts.
