LusoFolia Festival is a stage for underprivileged talents. It generates work, exchanges, trains young people (also behind the scenes) and proves that Art, Strength and Transformation are born from the outskirts

Unanimous Stage Festival – LUSOFOLIA

A stage for art. A stage for equality. A stage for everyone.

LUSOFOLIA was born within a social project that trained young cultural producers in the neighborhoods of Outurela, Portela, São Marçal and Alto dos Barronhos, in Oeiras. What began as workshops and training in production has now become a real festival — created by those who rarely have access to the stage and made for the entire community.

This performing arts festival will employ and train young Afro-descendants on all fronts: on stage and behind the scenes — producers, technicians, costume designers, visual artists, set designers. It is also an opportunity to involve the local community, which participates through the Crafts Club, creating sustainable pieces with recycled materials that will be sold during the event.

More than a festival, LUSOFOLIA is a symbol of autonomy, resilience and victory. A firm step in the fight against the stigma of the periphery and cultural exclusion. It is proof that there is talent, competence and creativity where many only see lack.

We have the unconditional support of the Oeiras City Council, RTP África and big names in Portuguese-speaking music such as Rui Veloso (PT), Dany Silva (CV), Zé Renato (BR), Karyna Gomes (GBs) and Kátia Guerreiro (PT) — artists who believe in this movement and join this celebration of art and equality.

But now, we need you.

Your contribution will make possible a festival that will generate employment, energize the community and, above all, give a stage to talent that sometimes lives on the fringes of visibility.

Supporting LUSOFOLIA FESTIVAL is believing in autonomy and change.

It's not about giving the fish, but teaching how to fish.

Be part of this movement where Art, Joy and Transformation have one name: EQUALITY.

Campaign objective:

Raise funds to guarantee the technical and logistical production of the LUSOFOLIA Festival, support fair payment to the young professionals involved (on stage and behind the scenes), and enable the active participation of the local community through initiatives such as the Crafts Club.

What we will do with the funds:

  • Ensure the physical structure of the festival
  • Remunerate artists and technical teams trained in the social project;
  • Support community production (materials and logistical support);
  • Promote the festival to attract audiences and increase impact;
  • Ensure the sustainability of the festival in the medium term.

About the author

Unanimous Stage – Cultural Association

Art Changing the World

Palco Unânime is an independent, non-profit cultural association based in Oeiras, which operates at the intersection of art and social inclusion. Founded in December 2022, the association's mission is to train and empower young people through the performing arts, promoting interculturality, access to culture and combating social inequalities.

Among its notable projects is Bairro EnCena, an initiative carried out with the support of the Oeiras City Council within the scope of the PRR (Recovery and Resilience Plan), which brings artistic and technical training to neighborhoods such as Outurela/Portela, Alto dos Barronhos, São Marçal and others, involving young people in areas such as production, scenography, lighting, sound, costumes and video.

Today, the association goes even further: it generates direct employment for young talents who have completed its training and are now part of the permanent team. This is the case of Michel Galvão and Reyz, two young Afro-descendants from the neighborhoods of Oeiras who are currently co-directors of the Lusofolia Festival. In addition to being artists, they are cultural producers and budding entrepreneurs, taking on creative and operational leadership roles within the association — a living example of the transformative impact of Palco Unânime's work.

The association is headed by Valéria Carvalho, a Brazilian artist with a long career in Portugal, who leads this mission with a focus on autonomy, dignity and peripheral talent. Since 2004, she has been carrying out this work of artistic intervention in the social area, also at the Tires Women's Prison. In 2023, she was awarded the Migrante prize by the Portuguese National Assembly as the personality who stood out most in the area of culture.

Palco Unânime believes that art is a tool for profound change, and invests in those who are often invisible, proving that there is excellence, creativity and innovation emerging from neighborhoods.
