Maria Mother of Africa Home. A Safe Home

It is urgent to make Lar Maria Mãe de África a safe home. By building a fence, we prevent the entry of strangers who cause fear and insecurity among the girls and Sisters.

It is urgent to make Lar Maria Mãe de África a safe home. By building a fence, we prevent the entry of strangers who cause fear and insecurity among the girls and Sisters.

This work is of the utmost urgency, the home has been invaded by third parties, demented people and criminals, armed with machetes to break down the door of the girls' dormitory, with the intention of attacking and raping the girls, thus causing fear and anguish in the girls and the Sisters.

With the construction of the fence, the home provides security to those who live there and allows the farm to be worked by the girls and the Sisters, practicing subsistence agriculture.

The LMMA does not have the financial means to carry out this work, it needs the help and goodwill of each one of us to make this dream come true.

HELP BRING SAFETY BACK TO THE GIRLS AND SISTERS OF LMMA.

About the author

The Lar Maria Mãe de África (LMMA) is located in Carapira, North of Nampula, relatively close to Cabo Delgado, Mozambique.

The LMMA has a capacity for 44 girls who generally come from very distant rural areas, where there are no schools, using means of transport that take them to the existing schools.

The LMMA's mission is necessary and urgent, to educate these children, adolescents and young people, to avoid early marriage and pregnancy.

However, the LMMA facilities do not offer security, which is why we resorted to this campaign.

Budget and due dates

The campaign aims to finance the construction of a fence as soon as possible, to make the Lar Maria Mãe de África (LMMA) safe. To this end, we contacted a civil engineer to advise on the best solution, who indicated the best solution: A fence wall, in masonry, with pillars every 5 meters, with a 2m base, 2.30m high and an approximate length of 260m in order to surround the entire area (the girls' home, the Sisters' house and the farmland). At the top of the wall, security will be enforced by placing scorpion wire.

Armed with this information, we asked for quotes, the best price we could get was €10,000.00, during this year we developed activities to raise funds and we have already raised €5,000.00.

As we already have half the amount, we requested the work license from the competent entity and have already submitted the descriptive report of the work.

The work will begin as soon as the license is issued, which we expect to be early next year. We expect it to take six months to build the wall, and it should be completed by the middle of next year.

The financing of the work is done with the amount already raised and with the amount collected in the current campaign and other activities if necessary.
