This campaign is aimed at the intervention of conservation and restoration of one of the images included in the "Live Conservation and Restoration" project. A sculpture of ,St. Francis of Assisi in polychrome and upholstered wood, dating from the 17th century.
On May 18, 2021, "International Day of Museums", we started another edition, the third in a row, of the “"Live Conservation and Restoration"” project. At the same time, given the current situation, the Museum launched a solidarity campaign to sponsor interventions in preventive conservation and restoration. This campaign is specifically aimed at religious sculptures integrated in the "Sala da Capela de Delães", a space in which the actions of this year's project take place. Whose program contemplates an ambitious, but pertinent estimate of the development of multiple procedures to operate on 14 sculptures.
This Campaign aims to ensure the economic viability and respective continuity of these same conservation and restoration actions, crucial for the preservation of a large segment of the sculpture collection of religious imagery that constitutes a significant part of the estate gathered by Henrique Amorim (1902-1977), the collector in the genesis of the Museum of Lamas .
In this sense, the Campaign "Together we do more for our Heritage" is aimed at the intervention of conservation and restoration of one of the images included in the project described above. A magnificent sculpture of Saint Francis of Assisi, designed in polychrome and upholstered wood, produced in a Portuguese erudite center / workshop, within the guidelines of the religious imagination of the 17th century and governed by the Counter-Reformation.

About the author
The Museum of Lamas is a unique space, marked by the typological and temporal diversity of the estate it integrates and, above all, by the unique and surprising “exhibition scenography” present throughout the entire permanent exhibition. Characteristics resulting from the action and extraordinary legacy of its collector and founder, the historic cork producer Henrique Amorim (1902-1977).
Given the varied premises that it preserves and disseminates, this is a socially active museological facility, of great cultural and pedagogical value, capable of standing out in the framework of Portuguese museology. And that found in the accreditation and entry into the Portuguese Museum Network in 2018, the achievement of a key objective for its national recognition and guaranteeing the continuity of the "social and heritage mission", which it has advocated since the 1950s. the Museum of Lamas redefined its position within the framework of the “new museology” and, in addition to preserving its prolific collection, assumes the objective of transforming itself into a cultural center of reference, multidisciplinary. Suitable for combining in a single experience, future, tradition and memory.
