This campaign aims to raise funds to continue our low-cost spay/neuter programs.
We intend to raise funds to continue our low-cost spay/neuter programs and, thus, to fight overpopulation of animals and their consequent abandonment.
These programs are addressed to animals who have owners, in Terceira Island, Azores, where part of the cost of the sterilization is supported by the owner of the animal and the other part is supported by us.
This type of program is very important, since most of the abandoned animals (strays or in shelters) were not born on the street, they are animals that already had an owner, or they are the result of litters generated by animals with owners.
The fate of these litters is almost always uncertain and these kittens or puppies will also reproduce themselves and originate more animals who will also have the same fate. The story will repeat itself over and over, and, despite our effort, only a few animals will be fortunate to have a good home. This is why this approach to families with pets is so important.
By spaying/neutering today, we will be preventing tomorrow’s abandonment.
On Terceira Island, fortunately, the demand for these programs has been fantastic and there are always lots of requests to sterilize, which means that people are already conscious of the importance of sterilization, but they need help to be able to afford the cost of their pets sterilization.
All our work is voluntary and, with partnerships with local veterinary clinics, it has been possible, since 2014, to support the spaying/neutering of more than five hundred animals, but, as an informal group of friends, without any external financial resources, the support of the entire community is fundamental so that we can continue to develop this project.
We thank you immensely for all the help you can give to this cause that belongs to all of us!
