Winds of Change – Make a Difference: Fund Her Future with Surf and Kite

In many parts of the world, including Sal Island, it is still believed that some dreams are not for girls. We want to change that – with a surfboard, the sea and the courage to challenge limits.

We are bringing surfing and kitesurfing to girls who never imagined they could master the waves. More than a sport, it is an empowerment tool that teaches them to believe in themselves and discover that they are capable of anything.

About Us:

Kimov - Kriolos em Movimento We are a newly formed association, based on the island of Sal and with a hub in Portugal focused on the empowerment of girls on the island of Sal, Cape Verde.

On the island of Sal we already have a partnership with a kite surf school - Island Kite School - and a surf school - RB Surf School. With this surf and kite surf project we intend to use sport (surfing and kitesurfing) to promote inner strength, self-confidence, independence, leadership and female representation in the sports.

Imagine a tourism where each visitor leaves a legacy of knowledge and inspiration. Our project transforms the tourist experience on Sal Island, creating a model of responsible tourism that benefits both visitors and residents.

With this project, we want to create a virtuous cycle: tourists become agents of change while the local community gains access to new opportunities for learning and growth. Together, we can redefine tourism as a powerful tool for sustainable and social development.

Budget and due dates

Schedule:

• 1st Month (Campaign Launch)

  • Official start of the crowdfunding campaign.

  • Promotion on social media, contacts with partners and local press.

  • Involvement of ambassadors (e.g. surfers, community leaders, tourists).

• 2nd Month (Mid-Campaign)

  • Promotional actions (e.g.: local events, live broadcasts with beneficiaries).

  • Regular updates on donation progress.

  • Mobilize the local community and tourists to reinforce contributions.

• 3rd Month (Closing of the Campaign)

  • Last phase of fundraising with final appeal.

  • Publish a partial thank you video highlighting progress.

  • Prepare the logistics to start the financed activities.

• 4th to 6th Month (Project Execution)

  • Start and expansion of free surfing and kitesurfing classes for girls.

  • First educational and scientific experiences with tourists.

  • Implementation of the mentoring program with volunteers.

• 6th to 12th Month (Monitoring and Disclosure of Results)

  • Sharing testimonials and impact stories.
