I connected immediately with the project 'From Kibera With Love', which supports children and young people in the largest slum in the world. This project really makes a difference in the lives of these people, ensuring the basis of a future with more opportunities. A project of a Portuguese that I accompany through the social networks and media and that I deeply admire. With the knowledge that I have I hope to contribute and help where needed.

Amoung so much poverty, there are people who really make the difference. Members of the 'From Kibera With Love' project struggle daily to change the lives of some of the children who live in Kibera. Education can really change the world, creating young people with goals and who aspire to better lives.

The work of the volunteers is essential. As a volunteer, I will perform the tasks that are required. Taking advantage of my knowledge I will pass them some skills of fitness and posture, which complement activities already developed. Raising awareness for the correct posture, strength and flexibility in a safe and healthy way. This is based on a disciplin that complements dance lessons.

As a landscape architect and amateur gardener, I like to combine plants with arts & crafts. I intend to do some gardening activities and Landarte, passing some knowledge of environmental awareness and calling for creativity.

About the author

At the age of 25, 13 years were devoted to dancing and 5 to academic studies. The desire to help others has always been a constant and I have done local volunteer work, but the need to know a distant continent on which I have heard so many stories about comes from childhood. And why not learn a little of the African continent while helping others?

I danced  with a group of fantastic people. And some of them have even participated in volunteer projects similar to the one I want to participate in. Teaching children was part of this route and has always been something I loved despite not having followed it professionally. I know it will be a very rewarding experience and I intend to follow their progress even if from a distance.

As a landscape architect I think the social aspects of the profession are very important. They help us grow through what others think of the reality around them.

One of the activities that is part of my daily life is photography and the capture of the realities that surround me, both in my professional and personal life as a way of expression. During this experience I intend to make a photo report. Returning to Portugal, it will be edited a little 'Fotojournal' that aspires to become a publication.

Budget and due dates

The costs associated with this project that I want to achieve with this Crowdfunding action are:
- Flight Porto-Nairobi - 700€
- Stay - 200€
- Visa - 50€
- Health insurance - ± 35€
- Passport - 65€
It makes a total of 1,050€. In addition to these added food, vaccines, equipment, etc.
Once the campaign has been launched, I hope to achieve the value of 1050€ in the period of one month, whereas as it approaches the deadline it increases the price of the flight. In addition I have to start attending all of other costs associated.
I would love that the objective was overcome, allowing to cover the expenses of the campaign itself and all other costs. Also, it would allow me to contribute with money for the children.
