Just a Change is an organization with the aim of fighting housing poverty in Lisbon. So, we are arranging a beneficence dinner with the goal of gather funds to the normal functioning of the association.
As Non-Profit Association, Just a Change struggle against housing poverty mobilizing Portuguese young people to the cause, throw street shows, sponsors and donations the allow to reunite the necessary funds to remodel the houses of the needed.
The name of the organization arises from the two meanings of the word in English, change as coins and change as a change in people’s lives, and these are two crucial stages of the project:
-“Just a Change” as a fund raiser, when the voluntary workforce sings and cheers the streets with their performances.
-“Just a Change” as the change in the lives of the people that we provide while remodeling the house.
Vision: A world without housing poverty where young people have a compromised and active role in the society.
Mission: Fight housing poverty throw remodeling the houses of needed families mobilizing young people as voluntary workforce.
Just a Change in Numbers:
- We’ve reached 700 young people as a voluntary workforce;
- Managing team of Just a Change grow from 7 to 26 people;
- We’ve remodel 22 private houses and 7 institutions;
- Within 29 interventions, 1200 hours of voluntary workforce was mobilized;
- 14 street performances have been made;
- Is estimated that 400 needed people have benefited directly from Just a Change.
Our need of funding?
Just a Change still depends of the support and donations given by people or companies to function. This event is a way to the people to support our cause, since the money they will pay for the dinner as two goals, to pay some of the costs of this event and to finance the 2015 regular functioning of the Association.
So we figure to make our first run on the crowdfunding world, with the purpose of fund part of the costs of the event and consequentially Just a Change can retract a larger part of the event revenues and with it reach more families and work in a larger number of houses in the following year. Help us to create “Just a (big) Change” on this world.
