Renovation of outdoor space

At Associação Jardim do Mar we promote an educational space where children can freely develop their personal abilities, where their interests and needs are respected and valued. With our actions, we intend to contribute to a society without discrimination, more fair, peaceful, sustainable, conscious and supportive. We work to enrich the development of children and future adult generations, so that they become autonomous and responsible citizens, essential elements of a democratic and prosperous society. In this sense, there are numerous studies that warn of a significant reduction in opportunities to enhance children's autonomy and risk taking abilities, compared to previous generations, and for this reason it is essential to promote more outdoor experiences and more autonomous (although monitored) outdoor exploration  With this campaign, we intend to receive financial support to reinvent our outdoor space, where our children already spend most of their day in playful-pedagogical activities, creating obstacles/loose structures and paintings that promote more sensory and psycho-motor experiences, of balance, strength and movement, thus contributing to their integral development and fostering autonomy.

About the author

Associação Jardim do Mar is a non-profit organization with an educational nature, which emerged in 2022 to provide a differentiated and holistic response to children from Faial. We have consolidated our existence at Quinta de São Lourenço, on the island of Faial, promoting since 2022 a permanent recreational-pedagogical space for children between 3 and 10 years of age as part of their free-time activities. This was and continues to be the main activity promoted by our Association. Our members can therefore count on an interior space fully prepared to welcome their children and meet their needs, as well as an exterior environment that invites exploration and free play in close connection with nature. In this space, the educators and educational assistants who make up our team create routines and promote high quality pedagogical, recreational and cultural dynamics, always respecting the autonomy, freedom and individuality of each child, from the perspective of conscious discipline, with a view to their full and integral development.

Budget and due dates

For the renovation of our outdoor space, we foresee the following expenses that justify the financial support requested through this campaign, which we want to carry out by the summer of 2024:

• Paints - €60 (+ CIN donations)
• Painting supplies (rollers, brushes, ribbons) - €50

SIMPLE LOOSE OBSTACLES

• Tires - 0€ (local donations)

LARGER LOOSE OBSTACLES

• Specialized labor - metallurgical and carpentry services - €490
• Acquisition of materials (wood, steel, ropes, etc.) - €400
