I'm 70 years old and I'm trying to save money to buy my first car, which will change my life!
I am 70 years old and have been a teacher throughout my life. I have always traveled by public transport, as my fear and trauma of driving came from a tragedy I experienced in my youth.
In the 1970s, a car accident in Mozambique killed my mother, who was beside me at the time of the impact. This experience left a profound mark on my life and, for many years, the simple act of driving was a barrier that I could not overcome. But life goes on. Today I am retired and, with time and determination, I embraced a wonderful project that led me to move to Arruda dos Vinhos, a place a little further away from the village where I lived.
And as a great friend of mine used to say: "Graça, it's time for you to overcome this trauma and get your driver's license." And that's what I did!
On October 28, 2024, I obtained my driver's license and, with it, overcame a trauma that had plagued me for decades. It was a difficult journey, which took more than a year of dedication, but I can proudly say: it was worth every effort! Now, with the B1 category, I am ready to take another step in this new phase of my life. To do so, I need your support to acquire a car that will allow me to have more autonomy and freedom to continue my projects.
The goal is to raise 4,000 euros, which will help me buy a used car that suits my needs. I currently rely on taxis to get to the nearest town, but this has become increasingly difficult as it creates a financial burden and makes me very dependent. A personal car will give me more mobility and freedom, as well as making it easier for me to develop new projects in my life - I still have a lot to live for!
