GIRA on Wheels - Together on the Road of Solidarity

The “Gira Sobre Rodas: Juntos na Estrada da Solidariedade” campaign aims to mobilize society to raise funds and donations for the acquisition of a van, promoting solidarity and a positive impact on communities.

GIRA's goal is to acquire a van to continue providing its services , which are essential for quality intervention with our users.

We regularly use our own transport to collect and distribute donated food and goods, transport patients and carry out other activities that involve travel. However, our current van is very damaged due to its use over the years, which results in higher maintenance costs and a greater risk of breakdowns.

The van will seat 9 passengers, with cargo space to transport food and goods. We estimate the acquisition cost to be around €50,000 . We have already raised € 3,745.38. With this campaign we aim to raise another €3,000.00 towards this goal.

About the author

GIRA - Active Intervention and Rehabilitation Group, is an IPSS - Private Social Solidarity Institution, which has been working in the Mental Health Area since 1995.

We aim to contribute to the development of an inclusive society, where people with mental illness can enjoy full citizenship.

We work in the community, with several partners. We have 2 Socio-Occupational Forums and 6 housing responses and 3 Housing First apartments supporting a total of 98 users and their families. We also have a psychological support program for children and young people, as well as an intervention project with homeless people, in the municipality of Almada.

We believe that “Mental illness is not a limit.”
