Support for the creation of a non-profit association of patients with Fibromyalgia in Viseu with the aim of helping to alleviate the suffering that this chronic and highly disabling disease causes along with community awareness
This campaign aims to raise funds so that we can create our association. We have already worked with patients for a year, we have already obtained a free seat with the support of the Municipality of Viseu and the Vitor Fontes boarding school so that we can meet with patients and those who want to be aware of Fibromyalgia, but we want more. next level is to make an association at the time so we can integrate the social network of Viseu.
One of the ways of relieving Fibromyalgia is to gather patients into support groups like ours.
We need € 300 to set up the Association on time.
75 € registration of the name of the Association
125 € expenses inherent to the creation Association, cards, book invoices etc ...
What is Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a chronic syndrome characterized by diffuse painful neuromuscular complaints and the presence of painful points in anatomically determined regions. Other manifestations that accompany also the pains are the fatigue, the disturbances of the sleep and emotional disturbances. Some patients complain of gastrointestinal disturbances.
There have been several descriptions of the disease since the mid-nineteenth century but was only recognized by the World Health Organization as a disease in the late 1970s.
They suffer from the disease from 2 to 8% of the adult population depending on the countries.
Of the affected population, between 80 and 90% of the cases are women between the ages of 30 and 50 years.
PAIN IN FIBROMYALGIA
The most important symptom of fibromyalgia is pain, which can affect a large part of the body.
At times, the pain begins in a generalized way, and in others in an area such as the neck, shoulders, lower back, etc.
The pain of fibromyalgia can be described as burn or malaise. Sometimes muscle spasms can occur.
Symptoms often vary with time and day, and may have a higher morning incidence, worsening with physical activity, climate change, lack of sleep and stress, etc.
It is believed that disease is due to a disturbance of the mechanisms of pain in the neuromuscular spindles, and there is no injury to any organ, namely muscles or joints, and in some cases may be highly invalidating.
