Support the António Luís Gomes Social Action Fund – €10,000 for 10 More Grants

The António Luís Gomes Social Action Fund's fundraising campaign aims to provide extraordinary financial support to students who are active members of the Coimbra Academic Association, with the aim of combating school dropout and reducing exposure to highly vulnerable socioeconomic situations.

The aforementioned support aims to address:

1. in proven emergency situations, in which the student presents a serious risk of survival, as he/she does not have or no longer has the means to provide for his/her basic needs, finding himself/herself in a situation that also puts the continuity of his/her academic path at risk,
2. situations of illness, especially chronic and/or prolonged illness, which involve mandatory and essential expenses, which the student cannot cover and which, if not met, put the success and/or continuity of his/her academic career at risk.

National or international students enrolled and registered at the University of Coimbra, in a bachelor's degree (1st cycle), master's degree (2nd cycle), integrated master's degree and doctorate (3rd cycle) cycle, who meet the eligibility requirements set out in the regulation, may benefit from emergency financial support from the António Luís Gomes Social Action Fund.

The support is of an extraordinary nature, intended to alleviate or overcome the student's situation of serious economic hardship and to prevent situations of school dropout.

This fundraising campaign is promoted for the António Luís Gomes Social Action Fund, an initiative of the Academic Association of Coimbra (AAC) , in close partnership with the University of Coimbra (UC), the Social Action Services of the University of Coimbra (SASUC) and the Organizing Committee of the Queima das Fitas
(COQF) .

This institutional collaboration aims to provide extraordinary financial support to students who are active members of the Coimbra Academic Association, with the aim of combating school dropout and reducing exposure to highly vulnerable socioeconomic situations. The decision on the allocation of support is made by the Executive Committee , a body composed of the President of the AAC General Board , the Rector of the University of Coimbra and the Administrator of SASUC , each of whom may be represented by members designated by them. Furthermore, reinforcing the participatory and community nature of the initiative, the Executive Committee meetings are attended by the General Coordinator of the Queima das Fitas as a permanent guest (without voting rights).

Budget and due dates

The fundraising has a target of 10,000 euros and is expected to last 1 month from May 2nd to June 2nd, 2025.
