COVID19 will require elearning for all students. Not everyone has access to the internet or equipment. Shall we leave someone behind? No! Join us in this small effort.
The global crisis with the new corona virus and COVID 19 forced measures that significantly changed life in society. Education was one of the first sectors to be affected, with face-to-face classes suspended on March 16th.
The Government announced that classes from the 1st to the 10th year will be elearning until the end of the school year. In addition to the use of television, it is necessary to use digital means that allow interaction between student and teacher and between classmates.
Do all families have the means to access elearning? Does everyone have access to a computer, a tablet, a smartphone and internet access?
Unfortunately the answer is no. In the Portela Moscavide School Group (5 schools, around 2550 students) there are about 10% of students who do not have access to a computer and 3% who do not have access to any means or internet (data provided by the Directorate of the School Group).
As parents' associations we cannot be resigned. We want everyone to have access to the best. Times are tough, but we have to get them through faster and contribute to the school year concluding in the best possible way.
We believe that it is possible within our community to get help so that at least about 80 students (3%) have access to a smartphone and internet that allows them to attend classes at elearning , maintaining contact with teachers and colleagues. In addition to classes, this means allows for closer social contact, essential in the most vulnerable families.
If, like us, you believe it is possible, join in and make a donation. With the money collected we will:
- Buy the equipment and services that the Directorate of the Grouping indicates (we point to a smartphone with a data package, but subject to validation by the school that is defining the detailed plan)
- We will donate the equipment to the school
- The school will send the equipment to the students who need it
There is no time to lose, the 3rd period is starting. Believe me, join us, and make a difference in the lives of these children and young people .
What do I gain from contributing? We believe that the main reward will be to know that it has made a difference, that with your help all students of the Grouping will have access to better distance learning. We will give due thanks as described in the rewards.
