Storm Dikeledi brought heavy rains and strong winds, causing damage in several regions and requiring attention to prevention and rapid response to emergencies

Request for Support to the Population Affected by Tropical Storm Dikeledi in Mozambique

Dear PPL Members,

The recent tropical storm Dikeledi brought destruction and suffering to northern Mozambique, causing damaging winds and torrential rains in the coastal region of Nampula. This event comes on the heels of the devastating impacts of Cyclone Chido, which has already left a trail of death and destruction in the country, with at least 120 lives lost in December, as well as severe damage to local infrastructure.

Storm Dikeledi also resulted in fatalities in Madagascar and Mayotte, and its intensification in Mozambican territory continues to pose a major risk to the safety and well-being of affected communities.

In light of this emergency scenario, we appeal to PPL for support in carrying out urgent humanitarian actions. Everyone’s solidarity is crucial in this time of crisis, to provide the necessary assistance to those who have lost everything due to these natural disasters. Support can be essential in providing immediate assistance, from providing food, drinking water and shelter, to helping with reconstruction efforts and psychological support for survivors.

We count on everyone's solidarity to make a difference in the lives of thousands of Mozambicans who are now facing one of the biggest natural tragedies in the region.

Yours sincerely,

Jorge Filipe

About the author

My name is Jorge, and I am an ordinary citizen, driven by a strong sense of responsibility and compassion for the hardships that so many people face around the world. I am not a humanitarian professional, but I believe that each of us, in our own capacity, can make a difference in the lives of others, especially in times of crisis.

In light of the recent tragedies caused by Tropical Storm Dikeledi in Mozambique and the devastating impact of previous cyclones in the region, I felt that I could not stand idly by. As a human being, sensitive to the pain of others, I decided to take action.

My motivation comes from the desire to contribute, in an honest and transparent way, to alleviate the suffering of victims and help rebuild their lives. I know that my action may seem small in the face of such a big scenario, but I believe that, together, we can generate a significant and real impact. I don't have great resources, but I count on the strength of solidarity and the trust of people like you.

As a citizen, my mission is to create a support network with the help of all who believe that solidarity is the key to transforming difficult times into opportunities for renewal. I am committed to ensuring that each contribution is allocated in the best possible way, with transparency and effectiveness.

I trust in the power of community and the strength of the collective to restore hope to those who need it most. I count on you to make this mission a reality.
