Fighting hate can start by helping me turn this project into an association

Fighting hate starts with us! Help me transform Dialogues for Change into an association and provide, free of charge, dialogue tools to activists and professionals fighting for social justice and against hate speech.

The Dialogues for Change project began as a peace and nonviolence education project, where I, on my own, went to schools and provided training on dialogue tools to higher education students. But with the rising tide of hatred in recent years, an increasingly polarized and divided country, and a frightening rise in populist and extremist rhetoric, I felt I needed to go further and support those already on the front lines, fighting for a more just, inclusive, and safe world for all, addressing and combating these phenomena! These are activists from various fields!

To this end, I decided to take the Dialogues for Change project further and created a free online training course on combating hate speech, along with supporting teaching materials for managing dialogues and building bridges, tailored to this medium. However, I encountered some challenges when trying to bring these tools to the audience that could benefit from them:

1) because it is a self-employed project, credibility is not as strong and many doors end up not even opening;

2) since I am the only one financing the project, creating 100% of the materials and taking it to this audience free of charge, I end up being more limited in my scope of action;

Due to these two points and because I strongly believe in the urgency of making these types of tools available to more people, I concluded that creating an association would be the most viable method. but still with a high allocated value, which I cannot finance since the actions I carry out are not for profit and therefore I do not receive any monetary benefit.

For this reason, I'm asking for your support in turning the Dialogues for Change project into an Association. It's urgent that we all have access to tools that help us deal with hate, that help us break the cycle of violence and revenge, and that help us be able to have conversations that build bridges, that empower the development of solutions, and that help us not to distance ourselves and create more division, but to come together and resolve our differences, without the imposition of power and without violence.

Hello, my name is Cláudia Soeiro, and I'm a peace and nonviolence activist. I began my career in communications, and throughout my career, I've completed several training courses in nonviolent communication, conflict management, deep democracy, and the fundamentals of restorative justice. Despite working for 10 years in communications and marketing, I've always had a vigilante within me. I've always stood up for injustice, and I've always wanted to contribute to a better, more just world. It wasn't until later that I fully immersed myself in social intervention, creating a support community for isolated women (the GCREW project). This, based on my years of experience facilitating women's groups, led me back to communications. Violence has always been a topic in my life (since childhood), but it wasn't until three years ago, after spending years studying the feminist movement, immersing myself in the realities of other communities, and becoming aware of the violent world we live in, that I realized I had to go further and bring what I learned to this field of activism. I'm passionate about what I do. More than a mission, more than a passion, Dialogues for Change represents my values, principles, and the kind of world I want to contribute to! A world without hate and where people can live without fear and in safety!

Budget and due dates

The amount I request for fundraising will be fully allocated to the formalization of the association, according to the information linked on the government website, which contains information on the creation of associations: https://irn.justica.gov.pt/Balcoes-Associacao (link for reference and where the amount associated with the creation of an association can be found at the time).

My goal is to formalize the creation of the association within a maximum period of one month after the end of the fundraising campaign (here I put one month because I am considering the availability to schedule a session at the association's counters to create the association).
