A kitchen for the Casa Velha Association

The A KITCHEN FOR THE CASA VELHA ASSOCIATION campaign aims to raise funds for the equipment needed for the kitchen that serves as support to the activities of children and young people, in the context of Ecology and Education for Development.

Raising funds for the kitchen equipment for the Casa Velha Association is the main goal of this campaign.

Inspired by the welcoming spirit of Catherine and Henrique Alvim, several ideas and dreams for Quinta da Casa Velha, where the association is located, matured in 2008. Activities and work with a strong component of connection with nature were started, experiences that took their own expression and were shared by everyone in the constitution of the Casa Velha Association - Ecology and Spirituality. The action of the association is to educate for Human Ecology: it is not only the defense of natural resources, but also and mostly the protection of the human being from his own destruction. That is how it promotes an ecological way of life, that aims a sustainable development at personal, community, local and global standard; it works the identity, responsibility and sense of belonging in a new perspective about the earth (and heart) in which we live; it seeks to activate in the population, all age groups, the will to "know" the land and to interact in a sustainable way and, therefore, combat the abandonment of the rural environment; it promotes sustainable rural development through local production and activating a solidarity network of local consumers, producers and agents; and it promotes a simple lifestyle through life sustainable experiences in the countryside.

Inspire yourself through this Casa Velha:

In 2013, the number of participants in activities at Casa Velha exceeded 1000, and there was a growth ever since, with 1500 participants last year.

For these participants Casa Velha Association has, among other places, the “Casa do Forno” [Oven House], a small house that in recent years has served as a kitchen to support all groups that pass by. Given the advanced stage of degradation (and lack of hygiene and safety conditions), it was urgent to start the recovery of this house, which was completed in 2015, thanks to the Terres de Femmes Prize of the Yves Rocher Foundation that was awarded to us.

However, the equipment necessary for the full functioning of the kitchen is still missing: stove, oven, dishwasher and storage cupboards.

To all those who are sensitive to the Casa Velha cause and are willing to cooperate so that their mission goes on, THANK YOU very much for supporting us and, together, carrying out the kitchen project that is and will be of everyone who passes by.

About the author

In 2008 the Casa Velha project began, which transformed the farm it into a place of union, alive and dynamic. Focusing on a principle of agroforestry sustainability and human and local development, the farm's requalification keeps the intention of welcoming each time better the people and groups that are visiting, in a close encounter with Nature.

There are two structures who function as the "body" and "soul" of this project: Casa Velha Agroturism and the Casa Velha Association - Ecology and Spirituality. Both respond to the broad mission of recovering values that with the pressure of everyday life and economic and social adversities are getting lost, such as the time for silence, the sense of belonging and connection to the earth and group identity. The two pillars that underpin this mission are sustainable local agricultural production and an agro-tourism which also cares about the integral human development.

The Casa Velha agroturism, created in September 2012 within the framework of the Casa Velha Project, proposes to his guests an involvement in this farm essence, with a warm and peaceful welcome in a rural context and also defying for several agricultural activities. It is also a strong support that funds the activities developed by the Association.

The Casa Velha Association, non-profit, turns the Casa Velha into a personal encounter and development space in direct contact with nature, through its ideals of ecology and spirituality. It also proposes cultural, social and spiritual activities that promote healthy growth of relationships, with ourselves and with others.

Budget and due dates

The Casa Velha Association intends to raise 5.000 euros within 7 weeks.

The value raised will contribute to the total kitchen equipment.

BUDGET:

5.500,00 €: is the amount that covers all the kitchen equipment: stove, oven, sink and cabinets.

- 338,25 € = 5% PPL commission amount

- 135,30 € = 2%  comission amount of payment partners (Paypal, ATM references, etc)
