This album celebrates in music the consolidation of Freedom and Democracy in Portugal

Art is the greatest expression of celebration and recording of great moments in history.
With this 50 Years of Freedom and Democracy in Portugal album, by the Associação Musical Lisboa Cantat, we aim to celebrate the most significant moment in Portugal's recent history: the Revolution of 25 April 1974 and the consolidation of Freedom and Democracy in our country. Through choral music and unique testimonies, we celebrate and record for future generations the values that shaped our society and our collective identity.
The idea was to bring together some songs that alluded to the period leading up to and after the 25th of April. We were inspired by Fernando Lopes-Graça's 8th notebook, which is a less well-known notebook, and then brought together four songs by Zeca Afonso harmonized by Alfredo Teixeira. We also brought together some regional Portuguese songs because they have some political symbolism and the message they convey is in line with the idea of the revolution and the period that followed until the consolidation of Democracy.
We would like to challenge you to collaborate with us in this crowdfunding so that we can complete this project, and, in the end, you can hear us singing this repertoire and feel the enormous power that these songs still have today.
Your support will be essential!
