Portugal has lost Bruno Candé. An actor. A father. A friend. What was left behind was not only pain. There were stories left untold. There were memories. There was silence. Your contribution will help us make this documentary!
Bruno Candé was an actor, father and son. He was also a black man in a country where racism insists on silencing stories like his. In July 2020, Bruno was brutally murdered in a crime that shocked Portugal. But what the media reported was only part of the story — and in many cases, not even the most important part.
This documentary project arose from the urgent need to tell, in a profound, respectful and truthful way, who Bruno was. It goes far beyond the tragedy: it is about his childhood, his dreams, his career in the arts and his daily struggle to achieve his goals. We are working closely with Bruno's family, namely his sister Olga Araújo and the AfriCandé association, which was created to keep his memory alive and promote racial justice.
However, in order to make this project a reality, we need your help. The funds raised will be used to cover production costs, including technical equipment, travel, image rights, editing, post-production and distribution. Each contribution is one step closer to bringing to life this testimony that the country needs to hear.
