The Diaper Bank needs your support 🙏

40 is the number of people left to support. Can you imagine someone you love, spending hours with the same diaper? The discomfort it causes? The consequences for your health? This is where we intervene, we help those who need it most!

Banco de Diapers is a unique project in Portugal, designed essentially to allow access to incontinence absorbent materials to people/families with economic need.

It consists of a logic of social emergency supplementation, which helps to balance the family budget, protects the health of those who use diapers daily, without generating dependence on support, since we donate diapers equivalent to the estimated average use of one week.

Diapers are donated to families, through social and health institutions that accompany them, with the creation of partnerships.

The last few years have been challenging for the whole world, which has resulted in an increase in the number of families in need and a decrease in support for institutions like ours.

The purchasing power of families is increasingly reduced, which is reflected in the acquisition of absorbent materials - diapers - an essential, expensive commodity with little state support.

In the last few months, we have 40 more families to support, as we do not have the sizes in stock (S, M, L and incontinence pads). The requests we receive the most are directed to adults and seniors.

About the author

Passo Positivo , based in Matosinhos , was born in 2010 through the will of a group of friends who voluntarily built and developed it.

Our mission is to guarantee the safety and well-being of vulnerable people or people working in crisis situations, filling the gaps in support in complementarity with other institutions, promoting the increase of their skills and creating an impact on different generations for the exercise of citizenship. global.

In this sense, we have four major projects:

• The Diaper Bank where we collect and donate diapers, as well as training courses on the proper use of absorbent material for incontinence.
• Neighbors , for the prevention of domestic accidents among the population with functional disability.
• Prevenir é o Melhor Remédio , whose objective is to increase the access of the senior population to wellness strategies.
• Humanitus educates professionals and/or volunteers for humanitarian action, and raises awareness of active citizenship in school and work environments.

In addition to these main projects, we have developed an entire internal Volunteering Program and we belong to the Social Network of Matosinhos and Valongo.

Currently, our team consists of two full-time people: Project Coordination and Marketing, and 5 part-time people, who are part of our latest project “Prevenir is the Best Remedy”.

We privilege professional volunteering, so our governing bodies are made up of volunteers.

Budget and due dates

We have a waiting list of 40 users :

• 30 diapers x €0.25* = 7.5 x 2 (two donations per user) = €15 = total cost of donation/user
• €15 x 40 = €600

We ask for €650 to cover the fees charged by the PPL .

Thus, the campaign should end on December 31, so that in the first week of January we can purchase, package and distribute donations and respond to requests for the year 2022.

* Bearing in mind that the average value of a diaper is around €0.25, the budget includes supplementary support for the 40 users who were unable to respond due to lack of diapers.
